Discuss all Moto Droid Razr/Maxx HD rumors/release date/speculation/news

I was only wonder because when I go to Verizon and play with the Razr Maxx at the Verizon, I know that I am essentially using the same thing as the Razr Maxx HD except the HD has the bigger, better screen and a slightly faster processor.

Finally things are starting to come together. Now I just have to decide whether the extra $100 is worth it for the 3300mAh battery and 16 extra GB of internal memory. Or just get the 16GB Galaxy S3 + a 32GB SD card for about $260. This is definitely something I will have to decide when I go to the Verizon store and personally play with these phones. The current Razr Maxx is running the same OS as the Razr Maxx HD will be, right?

I'd say so. The battery is not removable, and they deteriorate after time. The bigger battery will last longer than the standard RHD after two years (common sense, but it won't last as long as brand new).

BTW it seems the LG Nexus is real for anyone interested. Looks underwhelming too, I guess RHD, here I come!

I'd agree...no sd, non-removable battery that will likely be 2500 or smaller. Throw in the fact it's LG... I'll pass. HTC One X+, fixed small battery and no SD either, but at least there is the 64gb version. No on that one also.

Now, what about that HTC DLX with S4 Pro, 5" screen w/full HD, 1.5gb ram, 12mp camera? SD support is unknown and will have a fixed 2500 battery. 2500 isn't much for 5" and LTE.

Galaxy Note 2? It's got everything. Quad core, SD card, removable battery, excellent screen. However, need to see the reviews on the radios and physically get my hand on one as opposed to around one. Might be too big! Samy makes a powerful device, but S3 radio sucked and the screen was dim.

I'll look over those 3 devices and go with one: RHD, DLX, or Note 2. I hope specs are out for the DLX by end of October. Leaning towards the GN2 over the RHD IF it isn't too big, big IF.

What kills me is the 8 or 16gb storage with no microSD on the LG. I just bought a 32GB card which I've been itching to use (not compatible with the Droid X :/) because 16 just isn't enough. I really want to like this phone, but I can't with that.

The DLX does seem like a good choice to be honest. I'm not aware about HTC's durability record (big deal for me), but the phone looks great, I'll give it that. I'm getting frustrated with 3G though so unless something big like a release date or estimated window comes out soon, I might have to miss out on it.

Thing about the Note 2 is that it's just too big. I mean, even 4.7 is pushing it for me, but 5.5? I'll pass. Agreed about the radio as well, my brother's GS3 has pretty poor reception and we live in a good coverage zone. I really just have no faith in Samsung.

I'm still gonna wait a week or two for the RHD because I want to see the general feeling of it. I'm sure it will be great but I don't want to be in the first wave of products. Never know what gremlins make it past the production line.

Quite a bit more than a slightly faster processor. Taking into account that the phone is dual core and the optimizations of the qualcomm krait core architecture, the cpu is about 1.75x as powerful as the razr maxx. Plus the GPU is easily 3x as powerful.

You know, if it's true that the Razr HD and the Maxx HD are to be released on the 18th, there should be something official coming down the pipe pretty darn quick. The 18th will be on us in about 8 days.

But either way, I'll be patiently/impatiently waiting. After all, what choice do I have? Haha!

Doubt it will launch on the 18th, they havent even started pre-orders. I'm thinking that the pre-orders will start on the 18th instead. Reports are heard that Verizon has started training on the device though, so thats still good news.

Just saw a tweet from Verizon saying both phones to be released 10/18.

OMG. you're right!

I can't wait for the reviews on this phone. I just bought the S3 and so far I really like the phone but I do miss Moto's build quality. I'm not used to Samsung phones and how they feel. I mean the S3 doesn't feel cheap to me but it's just not the same as Moto.

I still have time after the release of the Razr HD to return my S3 if needed so I'm definitely watching out for reviews, dogfights etc.

All the manufacturers are coming out with some really nice Android phones...it's a great year to be an Android fan.

Oh, and I'll take partial credit for this release. I had given my Maxx to my wife and just bought another one for myself YESTERDAY thinking the HD wouldn't be out for another month at least. You're all welcome.

Thank you!

And I'll take partial credit too because whenever I schedule a trip out of the country, the phone I want goes on sale at the same time that I can't possibly be around to buy it.

Anyone else responsible for this release? ;)

YEA!! I didn't want to wait til Nov. My htc inc is down to 50% mid-day just carrying it around.
Now, what about the Note 2 or Moto Nexus? any announcements?

Unofficially the Note 2 will be announced on Oct 24 for all 4 major carriers plus US cellular. I have seen almost zero on a Moto Nexus. Its either not happening anytime soon or they're doing an outstanding job of keeping it quiet.

I'm likely going to get this, trading in my Galaxy Nexus. For battery and build quality, if screen is comparable.

What exactly would we be waiting on for the next Nexus? I'm not a software buff, ICS good enough for me.

If the screen is in fact true HD, I see no glaring weakness on this phone.

The HD should have a brighter screen than the current Razr. Thus, if the old Razr is brighter than the Galaxy Nesus (White, cd/m2 247 Nexus vs. 347 Razr) then the HD should be a fair amount brighter than the Galaxy Nexus. For comparison, the HOX is 550 and the Note 2 is cd/m2 of 402.

just stopped at the V store and played with the RazrM. Fast web page loading, nice bright screen, good picture/photo detail on a website I frequent. Didn't look at video. this would be a good alternative to the iphone 5.
also held the "old" Razr Maxx, although it was tightly tethered down. probably wouldn't want anything bigger for a pocket phone. typed a little, decent predictive text. wish I could remember some of the words my inc doesn't anticipate that I think it should.
guy said Moto availability is usually good for the first week; doesn't anticipate apple craziness. so, perhaps next Friday I will have a new phone....????....

This is excellent news, just excellent.

As most of you who have seen my posts earlier know, I've been patiently/impatiently waiting for the release of these phones. (Mom always said, "Good things come to those who wait.") Well, I waited and as most of you know, Moms are pretty smart.

I'll try to head over to the corp Verizon store on the 18th, but if it turns out I don't make it, what's a few more days right?

It'll be the Maxx HD for me. I've had my upgrade available since March. My wifes and daughters upgrades aren't available until December, but then they'll be getting iPhone 5's. (sorry, didn't mean to swear)

So, I do have a question that is slightly off-topic. What's the advantage or the reason for having a non-removable battery? Cheaper to manufacture, or what. It seams that with a non-removable battery they would lose lots of sales from customers who would purchase extra batteries.

Anyway, I'm glad the time is almost upon us. :smokingsomb:

The engineering and design layout makes it very difficult to have a removable battery. With a removable battery you have a less detailed and efficient space design. Since the battery is not removable they design it in a way that maximizes space efficiency. Besides, with a 3,300 mAh battery and a more efficient and advanced processor (albeit larger screen) there's no need to remove it. I use the Moto Maxx and I haven't charged it since yesterday morning and it's still over 30% with regular texting and usage. It's a beast.
I just hope that the power usage from a larger HD screen is offset by the even more efficient processor that comes with it. Might cancel each other out? I'm not an engineer so I couldn't tell you but I'm sure it will help a lot.

What exactly would we be waiting on for the next Nexus?

Compared to the Maxx HD? I'm pretty picky on appearance so I'd love less bezel and no obnoxious "VERIZON" and "MOTOROLA" logos (not going to happen on non-nexus phone). Also, better camera, more RAM, non-encrypted bootloader.

What's the advantage or the reason for having a non-removable battery?

I remember reading somewhere that they're able to squeeze in a lot higher mAh with the non-removable batteries.
