My friend used alcohol on the screen of his phone, one that I cannot remember, but it dried his screen out and made it very prone to scratches. He rubbed it on his face...and some of the oil from his face re-hydrated the screen or something...it was weird.

Well the screen was probably one of those cheap plastic-covered screens, like the Nintendo DS. Multi-touch devices have glass screens, you're hard pressed to do serious damage to one of them!
