I found that I had to add my own number but it had to have 11 digits to work like so: 1-222-333-4567. Using just the 10 digits didn't work. And I didn't have to reboot either, it started to work after several seconds as it updated all the texts and call log data with the image.

If you look in the settings, is your phone number 'Unknown' ?

You're right, my phone number is listed as 'unknown'. Is there any way to add it there? the field is grayed out

I'm curious, my number was not shown as "unknown" however I could not edit the "Me" contact at all. I ended up creating a new contact with my number and adding a photo to that contact. I have not been able to find a "generic" Me contact after adding my own. Is that odd or normal?

Stick your SIM in a phone that is able to edit the special 'my number' field. I've use an old SE phone, and a WinMo one with SIM Manager on it to sort this out.

I had the same problem some time ago, and I did exactly what Rusty have said to solve it.

Got an old Motorola V3 phone to edit "my number" field on my SIM.

All of this sounds weird. It's honestly supposed to be as simple as editing your picture from your Google contacts online under Gmail. Anything you change there is supposed to be synced to your phone asap. I delete contacts online sometimes and then seconds or minutes later that contact is gone from my phone, and when you delete contacts from your phone it's supposed to be gone from your online gmail contacts as well. Same with pictures. Give it time and see. I did have one time where it was acting funny but hopefully everything works out.

All that works for me...the only problem I had was that I needed to input my phone number using the 11-digit format and then it worked fine. It wouldn't let me edit the "Me" account in the phone to add a picture...

Yes, you are right. I also had this problem and now, after reading these comments I looked at my own 'Me' record and noticed that I hadn't assigned my mobile #. I added it incl. country code - +44 xxxx xxxxxx - and hey presto it worked. No reboot required.:D

Wow, that was a late reply,
But glad to hear it works for you.
