Help Display settings and locked screen

Hi,
I'm new to android and trying to find out if and how I can configure the following things (that comes as default on iPhone):

First, is it possible to wake the screen up while the phone is locked by using finger tapping / knuckle tapping or any other action with the fingers without using the lock button or the fingerprint sensor?

Second, does anyone know how to awake the screen when receiving all kinds of notifications like whatsapp or facebook messages? That also should be an obvious option to configure...

I'm using Huawei mate 8 running Android Marshmallow..

Thanks!

1. Finger/knuckle tapping to wake up the screen is actually not a standard "Android feature", rather it's something that the manufacturers may or may not implement as they wish. The Nexus and LG G5 for example has this feature, but it's omitted on the S7 (unless you have always on screen active) and AFAIK the HTC 10. So if the feature is not in your phone's settings, I doubt it has it by default. Of course there are third party apps that may be able to do this, but since this will be an app keeping screen active, it most likely will increase battery usage drastically.

2. Again this depends on how manufacturers configured Android. Google just hands out the OS for their use, then the manufacturers like Huawei, Samsung, HTC, LG, etc change certain aspects of Android. The wake up screen feature should be in the settings for lockscreen notifications. If Huawei removed this, you may try using Lightflow from Play Store to control how you are notified by your phone.
