DNA impression

I ditched my iphone 5 because I was iBored. I traded for a NIB DNA with wireless charger and otterbox. My main gripes are that there is no calculator widget on Nova Prime, I can't go into my messages from a message notification, the spotify app and widget are painfully slow, and the battery is pure shit. I walked my dog around the block today and went from 100 to 89. Otherwise not a bad phone.
 
So your upset with the phone.... because you are using a 3rd party launcher?

I read on XDA that the 3rd party launchers seem to be sucking more juice too.
 
I have found Google Now is a very heavy user of the battery on standby. Maybe try turning that off to improve that?
 
Spotify isn't slow on mine either. I don't know what you have on your phone that might be bogging it down, but I haven't seen anything slow down the DNA in my time with it.
 
I get 13 hours out of my battery daily and I'm a heavy texter, Facebook/Forum user and I listen to music. And this is with nova launcher prime.

Monitor your apps better, this isn't an iphone where apps you exit out of don't suck up juice. Android is a different OS.

leaving the camera running after you "back out" of it, eats up some battery too.
 
I reset the phone last night to get rid of all the launchers. The only apps I installed after the reset were chrome, fastburst, google drive, airdroid.

I woke up at 9:42 this morning and took it off the charger. It is now 10:12 and I'm at 93%. I literally haven't used the phone at all and it went down 7%.

On a positive note, did you guys notice that with this phone you can group chat with iphone users? I planned on losing that ability but sure enough, theyre coming though. The only thing that changed is on their end; their phones automatically stopped using iMessage in the group chat I am in.
 
Also even with the stock launcher, I can't access my messages through the notification bar. I click them and nothing happens.
 
Hmm, this happened immediately after a reset? I'm wondering if it may be time to get VZW tech support involved...

I would go back to box stock. No launchers. No new apps. No anything and go from there.

I can access my messages from task bar, lock screen as stock and using Handcent. You have something wrong. I would back it all the way to out of the box stock and work from there. If its still broken should be an easy sell to the CSR to exchange the phone.

That's not unusual. When phones charge Li-Ion batteries, they don't keep them at 100% as that would be very bad for the battery. They take them to 100% and stop charging, allowing the battery to go back down to about 90%, then start charging again. This cycle continues until you take the phone off the charger. However, to keep the consumer from thinking something is broken, the phone will initially report the battery at 100%. So depending on where you are in the cycle when you take the phone off the charger, you'll drop a bunch in the first few minutes.

There is such a thing as "bump charging" to get all the way back to 100%, but it's not good for the battery. And since the battery in the DNA is not removable (and therefore not replaceable), doing anything that's bad for the battery seems really dumb... which is why I also recommend against wireless charging (creates heat, which is terrible for the battery).
 
I also just noticed that when I'm talking on the phone and put it up to my ear, the screen doesn't shut off. It keeps playing some HTC advertisement in my ear while I'm talking on it.

I purchased this phone from a private seller but it was new in the box. Would verizon still back it?

Still under factory warranty unless it was water damaged...
 
I think it's the media link ad, am I correct? I have had this happen before. It's activated by swiping up on the screen with three fingers. (or your face if the sensor hasn't shut the screen off)

If the phone reached 99% on my bedside sometime throughout the night, it shouldn't make it to 90% before I wake up.
 
I really can't win with this thing. Today I have had to restart it 4 times. After not getting calls or texts for 30 minutes or so, I look at my phone and my texts never went out and there is a picture of a sim card in the notification bar.

You have the common sim card issues. Go to verizon

It's a software bug. Switching the sim card or the phone won't fix a thing. You must call HTC's customer service and complain. They acknowledge that they are aware of the sim card dropping issue and are working on a fix. The more of us they hear from the sooner we'll get the fix.

Yeah hopefully it gets fixed soon. Fortunately I've been lucky enough not to have the bug myself. Only time will tell.
