Hold on there Red Devil......the s3 was the largest selling phone, in the world, in the third quarter accounting for 11% of smartphone sales...........worldwide.......I haven't read any numbers on the pace the mighty DNA is selling but would he surprised if it ramps up like the s3.......I have used both and must say the s3.....though wonderful......left we me wanting in the screen category......having come from the beautiful Rezound screen.....

I Agree 100% i get tired of hearing you cannot tell the difference,in the display between the super Amlod and super LCD, you need to have your eyes checked,the S3 has a washed out Dim display,where the super LCD 3,is lot cleaner true to lfe,and brighter.
Most reviews I have read knocked it for the non removable battery, no SD card slot and not so great battery life. I owned the phone for a few days and really enjoyed it minus the battery life. However, it wont come close to touching S3 sales. Mostly due to the fact that its only one 1 carrier while the S3 is on all of them. Plus, many people are turned off by the enclosed battery and no SD card slot.

Pretty much dead on with that. That and not nearly the advertising blitz that Samsung put out for the GS3.
People are buying the Galaxy b/c it is marketed to death and people are aware if it due to marketing saturation so they trust it. Like the I4/5 it is an image choice to consumers that want a 'safe' purchase experience...Kinda like a Toyota Camry.
Why someone would want a dual core phone w visible pixels and incorrect color hues(amoled) I do not know.
Battery lasts me 12hrs a day and im a 6-8gb month user. Battery life is NOT AN ISSUE people need to quit leg humping the internet reviews as gospel. Who cares about the micusb flap...lol
10gb of onboard is plenty for 90% of users and if the general public even knew about cloud storage they would give up on romancing SD space.....its a romance spec like payload capacity on a pickup truck. 90% of people that own a 3/4 ton truck never haul anything w it! They just 'feel good' knowing its possible

There is a glut of high end Android plus Win8 phones so competition is fierce right now. I do think that Verizon lost sales by handicapping the DNA with no memory expansion.
I am assuming this 90% you speak of is a made up statistic. It seems many, while not using 10GB of space of their phone, assume that the masses are just like them.
What about the people who use their phone, especially one with a large HD screen, as a media device? Those who treat it as an external hard drive of sorts? Those who prefer to have their content with them at all times? Those people do exist. And for those who prefer to watch movies on their phone while communting or passing time, those who enjoy keeping their videos of family or children with them, etc.....they likely won't benefit from the beloved cloud. Not only from a usability standpoint, but for the fact that you need two things for the cloud to truly be useful...a solid signal and plenty of data. With unlimited plans being swept away the cloud becomes less of an advantage. For those who hate buffering, native will be best choice.
And finally, there are the gamers who likely dont care to play switcharoo with what they keep on their device in order maintain room. Games such as Real Racing 2 are 1GB on their own.
Perhaps you are correct that 90% dont care about more than 10GB of storage. Perhaps they are 90% who don't visit forums because they are casual users at best. But I wouldn't be too quick to say the cloud eliminates the need to romance an SD card.

I finally have mine in hand. It will go through my process over next couple days.
I am plus one that does not store a ton of crap on the phone. What videos I have are backed up on a server. I dont need access to 25 movies at one time on my phone. I dont use mine for games. I will be using NFC tags. I will be using tasker.
So I guess I am in that "casual" 90%

I bought an OTG cable and a 32Gb flash drive to take care of my storage requirements, but not sure if I will need them or not.

ive pretty much got everything im putting on my phone until I root it and have 10.5 gigs available so im not worried about storage. I have an ipod for music and im not a big gamer, I was worried about storage at first but quickly realized it wouldnt be a problem.

Denver Post Verizon ad in the weekend newspaper - colorful full back cover of a four page splashy holiday ad shows the DNA - nice picture - not one sngle SPEC mentioned beyond screen size - nothing about screen specifics or dual core or anything else.......pathetic

I'm afraid I disagree with you on the microSD slot. I have a 16GB Galaxy S3 and my phone memory now has only 2.86GB free, as I've got some games installed. My microSD card has over 30GB of mp3s and FLAC audio, so that I can use my phone as a music player.
Now before people think I came on this forum to troll, I want to say that the DNA is the first phone that has made me go "wow" since I got my S3 at the end of May, and so I pop in to have a look because I'm interested. The screen is amazing, the processor is amazing, and I would be drooling all over this phone if it weren't for the lack of a microSD slot.
New Rising hit the nail on the head when he said he has an iPod and so doesn't need the storage. I don't have an iPod and I don't want one. I want one android device that does it all. And I believe the demand for an all-in-one device is massive - it is what drives the smartphone market. I really wish that HTC had included an expansion slot. I used to have a HTC Desire and loved it, so I'm not a Samsung fanboy - my Desire used to have a microSD slot so why did they stop providing them...
I personally think it will hurt the sales of this phone not to have the expansion capability.
If it had a microSD slot the DNA would be the perfect phone, hands down.
In terms of sales, also not only is it not on the other US carriers, but the whole European market is non-existent. Verizon-only release is a bizarre marketing strategy for HTC to my mind.

I started feeling that now it is a $$$ burning game... when the innovations are almost the same, you use $$$ to knife fight about the public's recognition...
almost all my female friends now knows galaxy S3 , but some of them don't even know HTC....
I'm looking at the DNA, coming from a Thunderbolt with unlimited data. (My family data usage is such that I can finally swallow this).
I've looked closely at what I've got onboard my 'bolt with both my internal storage & my 32Gb card.
Definitely my behavior will have to change if I do go with the DNA. (The alternative is the 32Gb S3, since although it has an SD slot, you cannot load apps onto the card unless you root - haven't taken that plunge yet, but I am very very tempted).
I have a lot of content that goes beyond the cloud and even for stuff in the cloud, I don't necessarily like the idea of having to regularly take time/effort to swap out content.
So, while I'm not the 90% user, I'm also not a go-for-root afficionado, and, even if I were, the limit of 16Gb will be challenging.
I've got a 32Gb Kingston WiDrive that I can load with some content, but it won't save audio-book content from Overdrive (that doesn't expire) that the 32-Gb SD-card in my Thunderbolt will, and it uses battery power to stream over that WiFi connection!
