Root Do I need a Goldcard?

I'm currently on software number 2.50.405.2 and want to downgrade and root etc. so I can install CM7. All the current manuals to root say to make a goldcard... but I thought this was only for those who have a branded phones? So yeah, I have an unbranded DHD, do I need to make a goldcard???

No you shouldn't need one, follow the guide, and skip the Goldcard bit :)
