Do you bump charge?

i just normally turn my phone off at night. I honestly just find it easier this way. The battery life is just as good... (or bad) lol.

I got the htc 1500 mah for 15.00 and consistently get 60 hrs. Right now I have been unplugged for 60 hrs and have 20% left without bumping. wifi is on all the time and use a lot of GPS functions. The 1300 mah only gave me 24 hrs. Doesn't seem right but that is what happened. They should use the 1500 as the original battery.

No, I just change batteries every morning using an external charger. It's funny though, I talked to a HTC support this morning about reboot issues and also threw in the charging issue. I was transferred from Verizon to HTC btw.

Anyways, I am trying to move my company with 300 open Blackberries to Android phones, so I'd just like to know why some of these phones reboot and if there is an alternative to the charging the phones.

Well long story short, I spoke to a lady on the HTC support team and said she wasn't aware of never heard of these issues.

Any thoughts on this?

i would've thought they would be aware of the issue at least since its all over different forums. Oh well.

Yes, I have spent every breathing moment since buying this phone trying to make it take as much charge as possible by doing multiple 'bump' charges. I hope it is getting close because I'm up to 548,964 repeated power on, plug in charger, amber light, wait, Green light, disconnect, power down, reconnect, amber light, plug in, wait, green light, rinse, repeat.

This whole Bunk Charge thing is bogus. You can repeat those steps until the day you die and your power/charge indicator will NEVER EVER be green immediately after you power it down.

Exactly!!!!! this is the easiest way. Turn off phone when you go to bed and it does the same thing as a "bump charge". i never used to shut my phones off at night but i got used to it now and i kind of like it.

but charging with phone off is the easiest way. Pull off in the morning, turn on, full battery. I tried both ways. this way does the exact same thing

Nope, I need my phone to be awake when I am. I also need it to wake me in the morning so there is no way to leave it off.
HTC fail.

Nope, it's a huge pain in the butt and the battery last through the day anyways. The exception would be heavy GPS use, but meh, its plugged into the car anyways at that point.

I bump charge when I can. I use my phone pretty heavily so if I don't bump charge, I'm searching for a charger in the afternoon. And I'm on the HTC 1500 battery

i charge, sleep, power cycle and charge again for 30-45 mins, i have the seidio 1750 battery. i still have like 50-60% left after the day moderate use.

the other day i had my phone on from like 730am to 1 am and i must have used about close to 2hrs of talk time, plus bluetooth pn, and pandora in the car, texting, facebook until it died completely

now i get why the phone never has 100% when i wake up. so i guess if i got to bed at 11 and im done charging by 1 or 2am and now its on standby for 5hrs that explains that

Ya i don't mind when its off anymore. The texts and all will be there in the morning. I used tp wake up to the sound of my phone ringing so now I sleep so much better.

Using the siedio 1750, I charge all night with the phone on and then turn it off for the half hour it takes me to get ready for work and it's usually green by then. I have gotten just over 30 hours from charging this way. Without the bump I get right around 20 hours.

yep I bump charge but now its its like only 10 minutes or less on the 1750mh battery. seems to last longer.

i occassionally bump charge.

I think my battery is dying though (or I'm surfing the net too much at work) because initially when I did the bump charge I got 47+ hours out of the stock battery (yes I did use the phone, i was using camera, on facebook and uploading photos to facebook, internet, and a few calls, plus texting. Just used ATK after i was done anything) and aboout 18-20 hours on standard non-bumb charge.

now i'm down to 38% by 11 am... i don't get it.

May be run away apps. for some reason even not using them in days/weeks slacker, amazonmp3, and layar all have started up every time I look at whats running.

Curious, does the 2.2 update fix this so that the battery actually gets fully charged without having to shut off the phone?

REALLY DUMB QUESTION ALERT: Everyone talks about turning their phones "off". I always turn my phone off (hitting the button at the top of the phone) when I charge at night, but I thought it is always off anyway, after the screen times out. Isn't the phone then always off when it isn't being used? What am I missing?

Also, I've tried this 'bump' charging, and other threads describe it as charge to 'green', unplug from phone, wait a minute or so, plug back into phone, and charge the orange to 'green' again, etc. My phone NEVER goes back to orange when I unplug it and plug back in, it always comes back to green. That tells me it's fully charged...right?

Nothing to fix. This is caused by using Li-Ion batteries.

When you press the button on the top, or when it times out...the phone goes to sleep. It does not turn off. You need to hold down the button and select power off to fully turn it off. You will not be able to receive calls, text, anything while it is off: and it will take around a minute or so for it to turn back on when you do.

Wow. I never knew that. i will definitely turn fully off at night. Thanks!

I used to pretty frequently - after it woke me up, I would turn it off while I got in the shower and ate breakfast before I left. I stopped bothering recently - don't really need to. I still get a day. I unplugged at 8 this morning and still have 10% so it gets me through the day. Streamed pandora for 2 hours, texted throughout the day, played some games, went online a little. Made a few minutes of calls. Works well enough for me.

I have the 1750 battery.

I do not bump charge. I think it's a pointless waste of time. If it got me an extra days worth I might do it, but it doesn't. If I charge overnight, I can use the phone LIKE CRAZY all day until bedtime. No bump charging required.

idk if anyone else realized this, but i tried the whole turning off hte phone before bed and letting it charge all night...then when i woke up, pulled the plug out, and plugged it back in while still off, it CONTINUED to charge again for another 40ish or so minutes.

so is it doing the same thing when it's off?!
