Do you even bother using face unlock?

Face unlock is more of a novelty now. If it were faster and more accurate, it would be a real feature. but sometimes it takes too long for the camera to fire up to be useful (i.e. it takes longer than just swiping).

However, I guess it does come in handy as an alternative to entering a pin everytime you want to unlock the phone.

Also really nice if you want to keep a snoopy GF off your phone. The only thing is you can't fall asleep, or she can just hold it up to your face while you are sleeping.

be careful though...they can get in just by holding up a PHOTO of you!!!!

I tried it out a few months back and it felt incomplete back then. Perhaps it's been improved since then. Either way, I'm sure there are people out there who use voice-to-text and voice commands, I just personally find it to be more trouble than it's worth.

actually, it honesty seems like they've been updating the HELLLL out of Vlingo!
The car version is beta, and that's mainly what I use. Recently I noticed that after asking to text so-n-so "blah blah blah", it now repeats what you just requested, asks for you to either re-speak your text, or say send. and it seems to be understanding my speech more and more.

I actually use it quite a bit, I don't know why people think it's slow, i can unlock that way faster than using a pin. And after you use several pics for unlocking, it works extremely well.

I use it. It works great. My son can't get in and he kinda looks like me. He uses the pattern that I have as a backup. I do wish they would have the option to access the camera instead of unlocking the phone. Haven't had any issues with it tho. I grow a beard every winter, and I just had to go to the improve facial recognition and that was that. I love it. It may be a gimmick to some, but it is quick and accurate.

I have found it invaluable in one particular situation. I do a lot of hiking, backpacking in the winter. I use it to quickly access my compass/GPS/offline topomaps without having to take off and put on multiple gloves. And yes, I use my nose for one touch execution once it is unlocked! ;-).

Used it for about 2 weeks. If you are diligent in adding pictures of your face in different lighting it works well. problem is the camera lags to turn on making the feature too slow. If google fixes that I'll start using it again.

I use it on a regular basis. It works a lot better than I thought it would and is faster than my unlock code. I've trained in different lighting and love it.

I have only used it once to show it off and to see what it is like. Never really cared for the feature myself, but nice to have it.

Maybe its just me, but I find it too slow. It works reasonably well unlocking the phone, but I can swipe faster and have not really used it much since right after I got the phone.

I use it all the time. I notice the slight lag before an image is displayed, but I prefer the one-handed usage.

I've done a significant amount of "training" in various lighting conditions, with and without facial hair. I'd like to know more about how the phone processes and collates all this data, because there are definitely times it seems recognition GETS WORSE and then, after more "training" in different light, gets better again.

I haven't dug for it, but I haven't seen a way to reset the facial recognition for a clean start.

If you disable face unlock in the settings (ie: set a different lock type, be it PIN or swipe), and then select face unlock again, it takes you through the initial setup again.

I don't use it personally, but it would be nice to simply be able to turn it on and off to show off to friends without it having to re-learn your face every time. ;)

It works fine on my phone. However, I don't use it because I don't want to see myself every day, especially from underneath.

I don't use it, it's not accurate enough for me. Plus my wife said I look silly when using it, like i'm taking a picture of my self or something.

I used it for about a week. Then got tired of the delay (even though its pretty quick). I don't want/need any kind of lockscreen so its not that I didn't like face unlock, I just don't want the extra step.

It is fairly accurate as long as you go back in a few times and "improve face recognition" (or whatever it says). I did it with and without facial hair and sunglasses. Also did it from a low angle as I rarely hold my phone pointed straight into my face! Only problem I had was in low light but that's not really the phone's fault.

The face unlock feature will not necessarily be on every ics device. The Asus transformer prime just had the 4.0.3 otw roll out last night, and I can verify that face unlock is NOT included in it.
