Ivan's Eris Official 1.0 w/overclocking:

[ROM] Eris_Official 1.0 Alpha With Controllable Overclocking! [5/9/2010] - xda-developers

Looking forward to version 1.1. Thanks Ivan! :)

Ditto this

ELB never seemed to be a resource hog for me, but I never ran it for more than a day.

I'm running CyanogenEris 1.1 by Framework. Not sure what version of CM it's based off of, but it's been about a month since it was updated, so it wouldn't be based off the newest release that just came out a few days ago.

For the first 10-20 minutes of running ELB, Market may be downloading and installing ALL OF YOUR APPS. It does it automatically on said CyanogenMod ROMs. CE 1.1 did/does it too, but maybe it wasn't noticable for one reason or another.

ELB installed EVERY app that I had in my downloads list in market, and installed them AUTOMATICALLY. It was spectacular.

but I ALWAYS go back to SenseUI. I ALWAYS wind up back at Ivan's Eris_Official 1.0. Went to EvilEris for almost a month (with my own mods to the ROM - I like stability).

Ivan's and SenseUI FTW. ELB would be #2. Froyo's not ready yet, IMO.

I like Evil Eris, it's a good ROM, but MY problem I only had about 30-40 MB free space.. were as ivans official IM runinng anywere 69-74 MB free space.

And EvilEris is a DE-odex'd ROM. This means that instead of having FILE.apk and FILE.odex right in /system/app, all of those system .apk files have their ".odex" type data in a file in the /data/ folder instead of the /system/ folder. What's this mean?

Your "Free Space" is all the free space in your /data/ folder.

I fixed this by moving almost EVERYTHING inside /data/app to /system/app with Root Explorer.

It's the reason I don't really like de-odex'd ROMs, but they're SO much more customizable than odex'd ROMs.

So either move your /data/app apps to /system/app (harder to wipe later, because the /system/ area doesn't necessarily get wiped) or go APPS2SD.

Where do I get the Aloysius Snow V12 download from. All I see is an update that is 11 mb's?? Is there an original one somewhere that I need to flash first and then flash the update?

Frisco, good call on xtrROM. This thing is smoother at stock clock speeds than the other roms I've tried have been while overclocked. I even have LWP running and it still feels faster than the other roms.

When I first tried xtrROM 2.1.1 I thought it must have been my perception more than something that could be measured, speed wise, etc.

But I do see similar reports from others using it.

If overclocking seems to be a battery or resource issue on your device with your ROM, then xtrROM, either 2.1.1 or 3.01, might be the one to give a try as it seems to run as if it were overclocked even when it is not.

Have tried several after rooting earlier in the week I've landed back on EE oc'd. Smooth and fast. I like using the HTC Sense widgets.

I would like to see ROM that uses the default Home launcher instead of the 3rd party launchers that can overclock. Are those the vanilla roms? Is there a better/preferred vanilla rom?

I decided to have a look at Aloysius Snow this morning; been running it for a few hours.

I find it fast.. I've had my XTR overclocked to 710 and I find this Aloysius to be just as snappy with no overclocking at all.

I went ahead and put in Launcher Pro and my usual apps.

My only quibble with this ROM is that it is seems to be causing my device to do something I've seen complaints about here and there but which has never happened before on mine: the soft key lights are switching on and off at random times with no movement of the phone at all. It's as if the sensor is too sensitive all of a sudden.

xtrROM 3.01 will capture your heart, mind and soul.

Well, I like it. :D

So what's your rom du jour today Frisco? :)

So what's your rom du jour today Frisco? :)

They're both too amazing to make a choice right now.

xtrROM, both 2.1.1 and 3.01, seem to be winning with the unclocked speed factor for now, but Aloysius is hard to give up for similar reasons and also because it includes a few launcher choices stock.

As you can tell, I keep being impressed by how these two behave without having to tweak the CPU. I kind of like that, even though overclocking was one of the goals of rooting.

I left EE and several others behind just based on the quickness discovery in xtr and Aloysius.

This has got me to thinking (I know, you smelled wood burning and now you know why :D)..

..I'm going to do some comparative benchmarking of these two fast ROMs.. I keep being impressed with one over the other every time I run them..

I'll use Linpack for the mflops and stuff, and my handy Seiko stop watch for menu and app etc timing.
