Root do you really want jb

IMO I want the jellybean design with the ICS functionality. Simple. Plus I can't lose my flash player, not until HTML 5 is the default on websites.

Honestly, I prefer 2.3... Apps to SD support, Native Flash support, every app works perfectly, and if you enable JIT compiler, thats pretty much all of the performance gain from ICS

Top 5 reasons ICS is awesome:

5; Has Flash
4; due to the streamlining of most functions its easier to build rooms out of it.
3;multiple stability and security issue resolutions
2; its alot harder to hide most kinds of spyware on the platform
1; because stone cold said so!

Help me fill in the blanks :)

I love these games. :D

Flash player is not compatible with any version of jellybean, it was discontinued by adobe. ;)

The ICS version of flash will install on JB if you have the apk.

I have had flash on every GB/ICS/JB install I have ever had. With JB, it doesn't auto update, and you cannot just get it from the market.
But you can download it from adobe.
Adobe keeps an archive of all of the past versions online here Archived Flash Player versions

The latest (as of this post) version of Flash for ICS is here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.34/install_flash_player_ics.apk

If you have JB installed on a device, you can go here, download the latest version, and install it without difficulty.

I personally have not seen a newer android device that could not run flash.

I hope this helps clear this up.

really? 0.0 my uncle has that new Droid Max phone from Verizon and flash player doesn't work at all, it installs like you say but refuses to actually implement itself in any form whatsoever...

I cannot say anything about your uncle's issue with his phone...
However I am using jellybean and have no problem using flash.

Is that on your s3? Well I'm gonna keep looking into this, if it does work with no issue I may just jump to the s3 sooner than I thought.

It is the S3 from Metro. It isn't stock though, the stock version is 4.0.4

This is a port from Team Baked that Shabbypenguin brought to us here http://androidforums.com/metropcs-g...m-baked-d2mtr-blackbean-6-11-12-official.html

I have tried several Roms (CyanogenMod 10 nightly, AOKP 4.1.2 from ChiweN, Blackbean, King Kang) and I like this one the best, with King Kang being a close second.

There are also flashable zips for TouchWiz and S-Voice if that is your thing and the GAPPS from 4.2 as well.

My wife has the Motion. For what it is, it is a great little phone. I just need a little bit more customization in my devices. I have been able to get the keyboard from 4.2 on her phone and she loves it. I will try tonight with more mods for the motion.

Good luck on your research, maybe you can help your uncle find out what is going on with his phone.

i only want JB on my phone for an updated Google Now. Google Now is amazing like that and 1.0 blows when you see how amazing it is now

Many people have said there was an issue with YouTube, I really don't know what I need to do...
Jellybean isn't supported, but neither are custom ROMs, theming, or mods.
Just because we are told we can't doesn't necessarily always mean we can't.
I have flash installed on my phone. I can load flash content. Does it work perfectly all the time? No. Sometimes the applet can crash, because flash isn't supported. But more often than not, it crashes on other phones too, despite being on a supported system. A lot of sites have html5 coded versions, like YouTube or blip.tv... But to say that jb sucks because it doesn't have flash is just not true.

Why are people affected by benchmarks so much? As long as the phone isn't a slug it's usable. Im pretty sure XDA has 4.1 flash apks that work on JB anyways.

Flash player is not compatible with any version of jellybean, it was discontinued by adobe. ;)

JBSourcery 3.2 (jb 4.1.1) has adobe flash working just fine in it. I have not taken the time to flash Sourcery 4.1 yet, so not know if jb 4.2.1 does or not..
I'm just here looking for a good JB for the wifes motion. Sourcery hasn't made one for it...yet. Seems like a great phone for it too.

I cannot say anything about your uncle's issue with his phone...
However I am using jellybean and have no problem using flash.

YouTube videos from the YouTube app does not use flash, http://m.YouTube.com does not use flash.

You can confirm this by uninstalling flash player and loading a YouTube video.

When you are on a mobile device and you type in YouTube.com, you will be automatically redirected to m.YouTube.com

My phone doesn't have flash player installed and I can watch YouTube videos with the app. Most apps don't require flash player any more because the apps do not use flash.

If you want to confirm if flash works or not, load this webpage:
http://www.mono-1.com/monoface/main.html

If all you see is a white page with a blue block in the middle, flash is not working.

Well I borrowed a friend's s3 for a couple of days and flash works perfectly with 4.0, but once I made the jump to 4.1 flash almost completely shut down. I was able to load a game on new grounds and flash stopped working afterwards. Even when I reinstalled it.

So back to what I said, it doesn't work on jellybean. Just because it installs and the applet work /sometimes/ does not mean that its fully integrated. Which in turn means that it doesn't meet the standards for which I would consider as working.

An occaisional bug is expected, but when the system doesn't have full support...well it just means that you don't have flash. It works for you, Congrats. You can't say it will work because of the fact that you can use it.

The Droid maxx my uncle has is locked for HTML 5, that's the direction most forms of jb will be following.

Sammyz, I already posted in the thread that YouTube uses HTML5, it was stated that they were having trouble with YouTube, so I stated with it.
I don't know what page you sent me to... But that was weird...

Also, new grounds can work...

The issue is the browser. Chrome doesn't support flash on jellybean. The basic browser doesn't either. Dolphin mini never did. Dolphin does, but refuses on jellybean. But I have restored the settings on Dolphin from an ICS install (stock backup made using Titanium Backup and restored data on JB) and Dolphin does what I tell it to do.

I found the guide on an XDA forum that suggested this method.

I grabbed the first game on new grounds I saw.

It works, the issue is getting your browser to allow it. Once you have one that allows it, it works the way it is supposed to.

I will admit, I have had a couple of flash apps crash, but they crashed on ICS too.
The reason I used the full Dolphin was because blip.tv didn't use HTML5 and I liked to view content from there. It supports it now.

Now I use it to view flash content on sites.

Oops sorry, I was ninja'd...and all I saw was flash does work on JB and then I see YouTube. Today was a really long day for me and on top of that I have a cold. So I'm probably not thinking straight :o sorry about that. Oh and I don't know what's on that page when flash does load cause I've been using my phone all day and I don't use flash. I'm still on a phone. Please tell me what's on that page either here or PM. Thanks.

No, it's my fault.
I found a way to get flash to work on JB. I didn't come up with it, but I wanted to share what I found with everyone. It seems that no one wants to use it. I am fine with that. But I do not want to be told I am just wrong.
I am sorry if I am a bit defensive.

That top picture is a screenshot of the site you mentioned. It loads a bunch of faces real fast and paused on that one when I went to get a screen shot.

Anyway. If someone wants it to work, install the archived flash player for ICS from adobe, then restore a backup of dolphin from ICS with flash turned on. Stock will do. Then as long as you do not disable the flash content from Dolphin settings, you will have working flash.
If you try to enable flash in Dolphin after you are on JB, it tells you it is not supported and will close Dolphin.

Ninja...No system supports flash and has it fully integrated. As sammyz stated, the apps don't use it much. It is the browser. Whatever browser you are testing it with clearly does not. I had to lookup a browser that did on my LG Esteem when I wanted to use blip.
I don't think your uncles phone is locked to HTML5, but I think whatever app you are using uses it.

I wanted to post this because we are in the business of helping each other ascend beyond the limitations provided to us by the phone companies and software makers. That was all. If you do not wish to use it, then feel free to do whatever you wish. I do not mind. But please do not tell me I am wrong because you cannot get it to work. I have shown you it can, I have told you how to do it. Your choice to ignore that does not invalidate what I have shown you.

I will stop posting about flash on the forums other than to reply to questions directed at me or the forum in general. If anyone has any questions or needs any help, drop me a pm.

This was not meant to be an argument or a major dispute. That was my fault, I will work to avoid it in the future.
