Have you tried to before Vman ??
Yeah I tried, called the tech support, got send to Verizon, at Verizon they looked at the issue and said it wasn't "reported", so I insisted into letting me Google is for them if they are too lazy to keep up with Android and call them self Android Specialists, they wouldn't let me and when I started getting mad they let me "buy" another Ally, so they wanted me to pay for another phone pretty much and not replace one under warranty like they were supposed too.
And they responded with this lame shiz:Hello, I have an LG Ally I purchased about 2 months ago and since I got it I have noticed the battery life is nothing near what was advertised.
I have tried adjusting the settings, leaving GPS/Data Sync/WiFi/Display off at all times and still had no luck getting the battery to last through a whole day.
Then I started doing some research online and came to find that this is a problem with a good amount of devices running the 2.1 android os. I also found that there is no push date set for the LG Ally getting 2.2
The forums state that the problem is that the phone will constantly be at 50% or more time without signal even though you are in service, the "cell standby" service thus takes up most of the systems resources
I find that this is a poor reflection of your company, if this problem is not fixed in upcoming weeks I will be forced to find service elsewhere.
Where you aware of this issue?
When will you fix this?
What do you intend to do to satisfy me as a customer?
Battery life is impacted by a lot of different factors. I am showing that your device is connecting to the data network for long periods of time which leads me to believe that your battery life is being impacted by applications either being actively used or running in the background. Sometimes there are software updates that help to extend battery life by adjusting settings, but there are so many factors involved that the updates may not improve battery life significantly. I don't have any information yet about Android 2.2 coming to the LG Ally. My name is Glenn, and I am happy to review available information about the device.
Our records indicate that there was a software update released since you activated the device. The software version is VS740ZV8. To check to see if the version is running on the phone and for the update itself, please do the following:
From the main screen, touch menu tab
Touch Settings
Touch About Phone
Touch System Updates
Android devices have a tendency to run applications in the background. Many of these applications make frequent connections to the data network which can seriously impact battery life. A great application to use which really helped the battery life on my Ally is the "Advanced Task Killer". The application is free and can be downloaded through the Android Marketplace. If you would prefer to review and manually close applications, please do the following:
From the Home screen, touch the applications tab (bottom of the screen).
Touch Settings.
Touch Applications.
Touch Running services.
Touch the desired service.
Touch Stop.
Every smartphone that I have ever used needs to be charged at least once daily and sometimes twice depending upon how much usage. This is quite normal and a limitation of the technology available. When new software updates are made available for your phone, you will be notified when they can be downloaded.
Zach, thank you for using Verizon Wireless products and services. I hope the included information about the Ally and software is helpful, and I look forward to assisting you in the future.
Sincerely,
Glenn
