Does Anyobdy Know What Time It Is

I don't think you should blame the widgets. Are you using a third party launcher? Do you have any task killers installed, or apps that claim to improve battery life?

No killers used in this observation. I am using Launcher Pro; still ideal for 2.3.6. I also use Battery Hero, typical screen-off data killer app. But even if it is something like that, why does the third trial app work through all of it?

I now only have the third, which works, and the first, which I

Once your phone runs out of RAM (as is normal with use on Android; having your RAM full is good and means your phone will open things faster) it prioritizes what to keep running and what to kill for the next app you open. Android naturally prioritizes system apps and widgets over third party ones. It could be that some apps are getting killed off by the system, hence why the widgets freeze. If you went into your apps>manage apps>running, the widget probably wouldn't show up there anymore.

Oddly enough, the running list shows the first (bad) one, but not the third (good) one.

I reckon everything changed today – the third one, which was behaving, also got stuck in time. So three out if three fail, which means it’s more likely my phone, or as vosg said, something I put in my phone that’s causing it. Will try disabling my battery saver and such, see if anything helps.

Try if they work on the stock launcher.
That’ll be next, but so far disabling Battery Hero has prevented the clock from freezing. That makes sense, now that I think about it. Appreciate your educating me.

And believe it or not, with the battery app disabled, time froze again. So now I have both it disabled and my launcher swapped back to the stock Huawei miracle.

Being that I installed Launcher Pro years ago only because my previous Optimus’ stock launcher couldn’t remember its folders and this one does, I’m tempted to scrap it too... not to mention the battery app... not a perfect world after all.

If you switch to your stock launcher and use a clock widgetthat's by your Manufacturer, it's almost a given that it will not freeze

And in case it matters, the only way to correct the time display is to trash the icon and reinstall it on the desktop, to reboot the phone, or to wait for the reoccurring miracle I haven’t figured out that makes it correct itself with no explanation... meanwhile, it’s still 6:52.

the snag is somewhere upstream

With that in mind, I powered off, did the vol-up/power super-long press, got in Android System Recovery and chose Wipe Cache Partition. Maybe and perhaps...

Widget time froze again. Now I’m thinking it might be the only app I’ve installed in the last few months, CrossCraze. It’s a solo Scrabble game, which is very addictive but does other strange things, like cause my SD tunes to start playing in Play Music.

So it’s my new suspect and I’d appreciate it if someone here can try it too. Meanwhile, I’ve uninstalled it just to see.

(edit) It was discussed here at Scrabble game that doesn't require wifi access?

Did u delete the other one? Does one have to be playing it to get the time-shift effect or can i leave it in the drawer to test?

I think I noticed it when I had Cross Craze running, at least that’s what happened after I touted that it ran twenty-four hours; it broke right after I launched the app. Now it’s uninstalled and I’m waiting to see if my latest hunch is correct.

Okay, okay, okay, I’d give up if I knew how, but it froze again. So it’s not the clock widget, the launcher, the battery saver, the cache partition, the goofy game app... guess I have to factory reset and reload everything in small bites.
