I always liked the simple look of Digital Clock Widget. It occupies just two spaces of my front page to give me the time and day of the week. But I eventually noticed that it would stop being a clock

I don't think you should blame the widgets. Are you using a third party launcher? Do you have any task killers installed, or apps that claim to improve battery life?
If you went into your apps>manage apps>running, the widget probably wouldn't show up there anymore.
That’ll be next, but so far disabling Battery Hero has prevented the clock from freezing. That makes sense, now that I think about it. Appreciate your educating me.Try if they work on the stock launcher.

No can do, they offer nuthinand use a clock widget that's by your Manufacturer
make sure the widgets are saved to internal memory
the snag is somewhere upstream
got in Android System Recovery and chose Wipe Cache Partition
