Root Does Droid X suffer from low space in /data/data folder?

Apparently Droid Incredible may suffer from low space in /data/data folder, details here:

http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/258355-low-space-all-droid-incredibles.html

It seems that maximum available space is about 150 MB

Does this problem apply to Droid X as well?

The DX has 6656MB (about 6.50GB) built-in, while the Dinc has 1124MB (about 1.10GB) built-in; if you ever see that issue with the DX, I will be very surprised. The DX has a lot more free memory than the Dinc has.

Look at the screenshots to see how much free memory you have in comparison:

bouchigo: while it does seem that Droid X doesn't suffer from this I think your post is somewhat misleading when you say "The DX has 6656MB (about 6.50GB) built-in, while the Dinc has 1124MB (about 1.10GB) built-in;"

From Wikipedia: Both phones have the same amount of RAM (512 MB). In addition DX has 8 GB Flash ROM and DInc has 1 GB ROM (748 MB free to user) plus 8 GB moviNAND

What it seems like going on here is that DX allows all of memory to be accessible for /data/data. DInc in infinite "wisdom" limited it to 150 MB for whatever reason.

Which is why I also said this:

Don't know why you left it out  I guess I should have been more clear that the DX allocates more of it's memory for data.

I guess I figured the screenshots would make it clear enough, plus the link I provided ;)

I didn't mean to mislead anyone, sorry if I did :)

I don't see that you mislead anyone. Your screenshots made situation perfectly clear for me (and anyone else). When I said "it does seem that Droid X doesn't suffer from this" I was referring to your screenshots and to what you said about DX having more free memory then DInc

The link to hardware comparison is however misleading because it compare DX with DInc S and my question was about current model, DInc. To my surprise, flash memory in DInc S has indeed been cut to 1.1 GB. DInc does have 8GB of flash but it is partitioned weirdly for /data/data

The link to hardware comparison is however misleading because from the article one can get an impression that DInc doesn't have 8GB flash memory which it does.

Oh, ok I see your point. I'm tempted to remove that link now.....what do you think?

Well I just realized the link compares DX with DInc S while my original question was about current model - DInc. So technically this comparison doesn't apply. And, to my surprise, the flash memory in DInc S has been cut to 1.1 GB. So article is correct in that regard. DInc, however, does have 8GB of flash but it is partitioned weirdly for /data/data

bouchigo: how much of free space do you have in your /system folder? I assumed you have DX and took screenshot of your own phone. This is another "strange" folder on DInc that on my phone has only 15 MB left at this time but people don't seem to be complaining about this limitation in DInc forum.

Yeah, that is weird that data/data wasn't partitioned with more space on the DInc.

Mine says I have 131.07MB free, is your system using up most of that allocated memory?

Here's mine:

Yes, my is using most of allocated memory. Don't have my phone with me now but I think I have about 140 MB used and 15 MB available, or something like that.

Interestingly enough, on your DX /system folder also doesn't have access to the whole flash memory as opposed to your /data/data

Yeah, I noticed that.
