Does Facebook plan to ever fix it's horribly broken android app?

They seem to be trying...the last three updates wasn't bad at all, however.. I'm hoping they'll eventually add some useful missing features and options.

Funny hearing that it works well for some of you. I'll second that the app is pretty useless in my N4. Most of the time it won't refresh the timeline without several force closes and re-openings of the app. Even if I can get it to show new posts forget about loading comments. This is on Wi-Fi too BTW...

I'm worried that Facebook is going to focus their efforts on the new Home launcher and updates to the existing app will take a back burner.

Sigh.... wish more people used G+.

My only complaint actually is that it could be faster, but that's about it. Everything works in my case.

I wish more people would use 微信/Weixin.. that's what I like, and all my friends use it. :)

I have an older version that was working fine for me. Facebook app updates seem to be notoriously flaky. It's a crap shoot on whether a version works well or poorly. That is why when I got a version that worked well, I don't bother updating it. I plan to stick with this version that I have unless they have an update that makes it look decent in landscape.

I uninstalled, the permissions on one of the latest versions were ridiculous. The mobile site works well and Spatio or Friendcaster are pretty good, alternative apps.

I've given the Facebook app several tries, especially after the recent updates, and always go back to just using the mobile site.

The mobile site works as well, if not better, and doesn't take up space, or keep running even when I have sync turned off.

The issues I have is that things that I tell it NOT to notify my about it still keeps notifying me about. I don't care about games my friends play or other things the app just decides I need to know about. Also, I got tired of getting a notification that a friend had posted something, clicking that notification to launch what hey posted only to have it take me to the last friend's posting I was looking at. Notification is now gone so navigating to the new posting is a royal PITA. I also hate when I type something up and choose submit only to have it error out and what I typed is now gone. It does a couple other things like this that are fairly annoying. HTC Evo LTE stock firmware and stock app.

I use Friendcaster and have for two years now. The updates are consistent and they address issues promptly. It uses little resources. I noticed the Facebook app constantly was using my GPS even when I simply just opened the app. Friendcaster does not.

The only drawback to Friendcaster is if you have a friend that has all apps blocked, you will not see their posts since Friendcaster is considered a third party application.

I really hate to bash the official Facebook app so let me say that it is just MY experience that I prefer Ftiendcaster overall. I even bought the Pro version.

same here, works fine for me..only gripe is messenger..i had to download the messenger app for it to be sufficient

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Facebook itself can't give push notifications of messages unless its active on the foreground, you'd need Messenger for that, although I don't find it too big a deal.

yea, once you DL messenger, i think its syncs up pretty nice

Regarding games, its not the app's fault. You set it up on your web account.

That's not true. I have it disabled @ Facebook and all the settings are set appropriately within the app as well. There is no setting that I can adjust that isn't adjusted to disallow this behavior and yet it continues. Between this and the fact that when I do actually get notifications that I want and click them only to get the previous post from the previous notification to display I just disabled notifications all together which sucks because I also disabled email notifications too so I wasn't getting double notified. I've since been quite content with checking fb once a week or so when I get time but am start of missing instant notifications from family & friends. Facebook really needs to fix the Android version of this app.

Yeah, not a huge deal and I really like the new features they added to the Messenger piece recently. The little bubbles that make it easier to access conversations you're currently having regardless of what other app you may be in. It's a little bit buggy but I like where this is going and wish I had this feature on Google Talk and the stock Messenger app as well.

Really? That's pretty odd. I disabled game notifications on my account and I've never seen them again since.

Well for the messenger app you can always use SMS popup.

Tell me about it. It's annoying as hell. I constantly get notifications for things I don't want notified for and it finally caused me to disable them all together.

It's not the same. Those pop-up messages I've had on the various versions of the stock messaging app as well as several 3rd party messaging apps and they don't work the same. Far too distracting (if I'm in the middle of a long text reply on a forum within the browser like this and I get a pop-up it reloads when I send the message and return and the message is gone for instance) and no real way to access the conversation once I've closed or sent the message. I really like having this little bubble that you can place anywhere that sort of just hovers there. Works very well and makes me want to start using fb messenger more instead of Google Talk or SMS like I currently do.

Well you CAN set FB's Messenger app for SMS as well as chat anyway.

I wasn't aware of that. So your SMS messages all come in and out through fb Messenger? Interesting. I already have my Google Voice SMS messages coming through the stock messenger app so I will have to see how this all behaves but I'm going to check into this.
