Does Froyo have voice dial?

Vlingo works pretty good for what it does, but I think what we want is to be able to press the button on the BT and say "office", or "home", or "bob" and that's it. I could do that on my primitive Nokia..would be nice to have that now

The OP said

"I.E. Once paired with a Bluetooth device you can activate the Bluetooth device and say something like, "Call home." and it will dial your home phone number."

And the videos I watch on Vlingo it appears to be doing just that. Among other things (like texting, navigating etc.)

But I don't use bluetooth so I could be misunderstanding what the OP was asking.

But it doesn't matter if you can't get it in the US right now I suppose.

To be clear... "Samsung Apps" is not available at the US Samsung site. Vlingo is another matter.

Oh, and the Vlingo feature which supports Bluetooth is called "InCar" and is available ONLY on select "Vlingo-supported devices" (From the Vlingo site: Vlingo is only available through exclusive preload deals on premium phones like the Samsung Universe, Samsung Solstice II and Sharp Leaf.)

I cannot believe how ridiculous this whole voice-dialing/hands-free is (or should I say "isn't") on Android phones! My god...my 6 year-old BlackBerry 8830 and 2-year-old 8530 have given me near flawless bluetooth hands-free operation through a Cardo Scala Rider Q2 headset for my motorcycle helmet.

I purchased a Bell HTC Desire Z late last November and only recently discovered (when I pulled my motorcycle out of winter storage) the serious shortcomings of bluetooth hands-free operation. I wish I had just bought the phone because it would be going back for that reason alone. Unreal!

Why does Google not consider it a priority?? I have friends who have much older "dumb" phones that do bluetooth hands-free much better natively than any crapola app you can find to layer onto your Android device. One makes certain assumptions...I assumed that a state of the art device like my phone would do everything a 6-year old phone would do and more. Silly me...

I have a Sena SMH-10 on the way and am now wondering if I made the right choice with the Captivate.... not being able to communicate with the phone w/o BT takes away 50% of its functionality.

The fact Samsung has not addressed this is unacceptable.

just downloaded vlingo and man o man...is this fun. if you choose the in car option, once loaded, it might be a battery hog, but it stays on....when you want to do something you simply say out loud, "hey vlingo" and it talks to you and says whats up, what do you want to do?
then you just tell it to send a text, or call someone etc. if you dont like what it texts you get a choice to cancel, although i found it eerily accurate.

some duplication of google voice features in 2.2 that i have but i like many others....this is really cool.
