Root Does rooting improve battery life?

Root by itself will not stop any ota updates....clockwork recovery however will most likely not allow the update to install
That being said most of us in the root.crowd don't take otas anyway....we just install the updates through cwr once they ve been optimized and released by one of the devs

The rooting process will do nothing to alter battery life. Removing some useless battery draining apps after rooting can improve battery life

+100 on reading up. I was on these forums 3 weeks before I decided to root, clockwork, rom, and kernel. The day I decided to jump into this I literally spent 18hrs reading every step over and over by the time I was ready I didn't have to look at directions just did it all from memory. Then when voodoo 5 came out I spent 5 days researching before making the jump. I had heard that old voodoo was very difficult and wanted to know my info before taking such a step with my phone. So its a good thing to always know what you are getting into. There are plenty of ppl here that are happy to help you out, but I feel its a whole lot more comfortable knowing that I know what I'm doing, but if I get into a bind there they are to help.
Well, sort of. Most (all?) custom kernels now are at least a little undervolted, so that will definitely help battery life.
