Root Does software update kill and remove the root??

Will software update kill And remove the root in the droid x

As far as I know... YES! My friends had 2.1 update to 2.2 and root will not work....so we had to wait until the root for 2.2 came out to get all his previous apps working again..

If you are rooted with a rom it won't update anyway. We rom/themers will be getting the updates through our rom devs

Steve i do not have a ROM installed on my droid x and it still update right??, i am currently running android 2.2 and when will the next update be posted next year??

ok so my x will be in some time this week. if it is on 2.1 should i root before updating to 2.2?
