Does the Nexus lag?

I haven't made it lag once other than when transferring files from the computer and multitasking on it. Not really sure where you have seen all this lag but I sure haven't.

The only lag I have seen anywhere is when I switch from portrait to landscape and vice versa. Doesn't really bother me though since it is only for a second but it is noticeable

just wanted to say this isn't lag. this was done on purpose by Google. they've given the phone more time to make sure the user actually wanted to go to landscape from portrait and vice versa. it makes sense and i'm glad it's like this because on my last phone i had a ROM that would change with even a slight tilt and very quickly. was annoying.

otherwise, there is a bit of noticeable lag when in the widgets section of the app drawer and scrolling through. i think this is because the phone is having to load that stuff, though.

I have some insignificant lag here and there. But, the most noticeable is when I press the "open applications" button. It just doesn't seem very reliable. Sometimes, I'll press it, and it will lag for about 1-2 seconds. Not sure if this is contextual -- i.e., whether it happens while in certain apps or otherwise.

Cool! Did not know that. :D

Go compare this phone to an epic touch, youll see exactly what im talking about. If you cant see it from there, I guess you still have new shiny syndrome.

Experiencing some stuttering when I first bring up the app drawer and move between a page, but after then it's as smooth as can be.

Bringing up the running apps list (far right button) produces stutter as well.

Smooth device overall, though. No real "lag" to speak of, unless something's loading.

hey guys!
some important info regarding this. with 4.0.2 update, it brought about some kernel changes. we're talking about this over on xda but basically the hispeed_freq was lowered for cpu load.

quoting mike1986
"In newest kernel Google removed go_maxspeed_load parameter (sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/interactive/go_maxspeed_load). What was it doing? When set to XX value it means "rise CPU frequency after xx% CPU is loaded". By default it was 95 so "go to higher frequency when CPU is 95% loaded". In my custom ROMs I always tweak it to 60.

Now - in latest kernel, google replaced go_maxspeed_load with hispeed_freq (sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/interactive/hispeed_freq). This value means "Go to hi speed when CPU load at or above this value". By default hispeed_freq is set to 700000 (700MHz)."

I've compared it against the Rezound, Razr, Bionic and the Samsung SG2 Skyrocket. Still not seeing any lag on mine.

There's some stuttering here and there but no lag. You can't expect everything to be smooth 100% of the time (unless you don't care about battery).

I mentioned the epic touch for a reason. If i could get my hands on one to do a side by side video i would. The eptouch is the most lag free handset on the market. The difference is noticeable. I understand people taking pride in their phones but.. it is what it is. Frankly, the fact that this phone lags with LWP (which NO ONE can refute) is saying enough in itself.

OTD, if you've got about 10 applications running, and you are on your home screen and you hit the app switcher button, do you have zero lag? Lag, as in, time it takes for the button to respond from the moment you press it.
