Root Does the sbf flash 2.1 to before or after the OTA update?

Quick question: I just flashed back to 2.1 using RSDlite 4.7 and the sbf file, but is my operating system up to date? As soon as I flashed it, i rooted it and that all works fine, but i hear that rooting doesn't allow OTA updates. I went into settings and found that my phone said it was up to date, but idk if this is accurate with rooting right after the sbf flash.
Thanks in advance!

i'm considering moving the su file to xbin but i don't want to pay for root explorer. Is there a way to download the file via the dev's site or can i do it with astro manager?

you can use adb on your computer, are you familiar with it

looks like some of my posts got deleted I had 1000 earlier today

I think I know that answer to this from reading the other threads and searching.

But, what the hell, here's my question anyway...
Is there anyway to go from 2.2 back to 2.1 with out losing everything on the phone?
(pics, vids, apps, etc?)

ETA...I'm not rooted

not really, i tried downloading and installing the SDK but for some reason it would fail to install correctly. I'm not sure if its something i'm doing or what. Can you post a link that would explain some of the basics of installing/using SDK/ADB? i think that ADB is a tool in SDK right?

to mxsjw, all your pics and music is stored on your sd card, backup contacts using google backup app already on your phone. U can use titanium backup for app data i believe, but i didn't bother doing it when i flashed back to 2.1

sadly no, you have to wipe data and cache to get back down
pics on your sdcard as well as vids, contacts are backed up through google, apps you will have to redownload if you are not rooted

plug your phone into the computer and put it in pc mode

so if you have the sdk, take the tools folder from it and put it on your desktop, then open up a cmd a your computer and do "cd location" where location is the copy of the address of the tools folder

then do
"adb devices"
and see what happens

My contacts are synced with Google and Backup assistant. My apps should be backed up with app brain, right? The removable SD card stuff stays intact, right? So it sounds like I'd lose my texts, call lists and have to reload/set up my apps. Is that right, or will I lose more?
