Help Does the Thunderbolt not have "deep sleep"?

My wife and I recently got Verizon. I picked the Nexus(of course) and she chose the Thunderbolt. She has been complaining about poor battery life. Charged it all night, takes it to work and by midday, after not even using it much, it alarms her that it has a low battery. Is that normal?

Currently, Im charging it and running systempanel and cpu spy. It has spent the entire time in 2xxMHZ and no deep sleep at all. Does this phone not have a deepsleep mode?

Ive never read into this phone because Ive never had it. Is the battery a know issue? Anything I can do besides buying a rezound battery?
 
Yes the battery is an issue. I get 14+ hours of moderate to heavy use out of the Rezound battery. It was worth the 20 bucks. I don't know if this has ever been fixed but I know back when I first got the phone I had to update the Blockbuster app and then turn off auto update because that app was a known issue. There is a running service called pwvdrm (I think) associated with that app that I used to turn off but don't bother to any longer as I get sufficient battery life now.
 
Is it just the capacity increase that helps or is the stock battery just crap regardless of its size?

Assuming you're referring to jplus' comment, what ridiculous claims? I have the stock battery and get close to 12 hours, sometimes more, so 14+ with the Rezound battery probably isn't an exaggeration.

How are you getting such life out of the stock battery? What rom/kernel setup are you running, if any? My wife's phone gets shit for battery life. I rooted it last night, but I havent flashed anything yet.
 
The main difference for me is that I now don't have to charge midday in order to make it through the day and home. I was getting 10-12 hours out of the stock and would have to charge it periodically to make it last. I am stock and have auto brightness on so I could probably do better if I put some effort into it, but I want to use my phone the way I like it. I do turn 4g off when not using it. 3g works for emails and light stuff like that. If I leave 4g on all day my battery life is worse.

Have your wife turn off data when its not it use. There could be a signal issue at work where the phone is constantly struggling to keep a signal and ends up killing the phone even without her using it. This happens at my work place so I keep data turned off.

so now it goes from fishy to not using it as a smartphone. Fyi that was with moderate use. Texting, surfing root wiki, phone calls. Playing words with friends with my wife. To top it off I live in a poor signal area. I don't turn off the radio. Run no programs. I just set my phone up like I always do. I am sorry you can't get the performance out of your battery like I can. I have seen others do as good as I do or better.

So tell me how I should use this as a smartphone? Leave my screen brightness at 100%? Have it sync everything every 5 min? Have it to never turn my screen off?

First you call bull on my screenshot. Then you say I don't use my phone as a smartphone. All you are doing is fishing because you can't figure out how I did it. If you like I can tell you how I Have my settings and the rom I use. The kernel I use.

But don't sit there and say I am lying about what I posted.

Wow, 19 hours when you barely used the phone, impressive.

The bottom line is that your battery is 200mAh over stock. That's hardly the difference between bad and great battery life.
 
If you use your phone heavily, with auto sync on, with web browsing/emailing/phone calls/texting/gps/etc, you will have a hard time making it through the day. Moderate use should be able to make it just fine. With no/low usage, I can make it two days between charges (Rooted, using BAMF Forever/JD Sense Kernel). I think this type of clarification is needed when making battery claims.

don't be so upset. i don't care as much as you shouldn't. i have a stock battery from a launch day phone that can make it almost a whole day with LTE on. woop-de-do.

I just want to know how to use my phone as a smartphone. Beings you said I don't. I am not upset and found your last accusation funny. It seems you are the one that cares too much about it. If you didn't you wouldn't have said my picture was fishy. then say I wasn't using my phone as a smartphone. All I did was post a picture that battery life for the bolt isn't all bad..

So next time you want to show you don't care about a topic don't post on it. Funny how that works.

Use your smartphone as toilet paper! It's fishy that you get a battery that is a watch battery bigger than what comes supplied and get IncreDibLE results. JFK was fishy, let's talk about that before you get more angry and say more things... I say there was a sniper on the grassy knoll, what say you?

p.s. I get better battery life with LTE on and GMail syncing. I never said the battery life was bad.

See you're upset and like I said if you didn't care you wouldn't be getting so emotional nor would you be accusing me of not using my smartphone as a smartphone. I am actually having fun and you make me laugh with your humor.

So again how can I use my phone as a smartphone so I can get the most out of it.

Might even use that as a siggy like so I can see it every time I post. Thanks for the smile.
 
I would like to put my 2 c in regarding "ridiculous" battery claims. On the stock battery, stock Rom kernal no root etc. I could easily get a full days use, charging nightly. On the rezound battery, I easily get a full day w heavy use. ~2 hrs web browsing, txt, calls, etc. On light days (minimal call time, light browsing) I charge every other night. Turn off data when not in use (esp 4g), turn off non essential background data (stocks, crappy bloat apps such as blockbuster, or whatever u find u don't need), and remember that display is a large draw on the battery. Rezound battery is well worth it. If you don't have one, u really shouldn't speak on it. It's not one of those crappy 1800 mah chinese deals.

A full day on the stock battery??? Yep, that's a ridiculous claim alright.

A full day of heavy use from a 200 mAh boost??? Yep, that's another ridiculous claim.

I will never understand why people continue to make posts claiming battery life claims that the rest of us know are BS.

Maybe you don't know how to set your device up? People who call BS are the ones that can't figure out how to do it. I posted a screenshot of my battery life with the rezound battery. No trickery there its just what I get. Not saying get it every time. But its up there.

You're not using the phone, of course the battery is going to last. The problem with people like you is that you do a few things with your phone, it lasts through the day and then you're hear talking about "OMG awesome battery life with heavy use!!!!".

Heavy use means frequent web browsing, video playing, music streaming and phone calls over the course of a day. Try that and you won't come close to making it through a day.
