I wouldn't dare. We can no longer get expensive furnishings, as our dog will chew it to bits, and that includes rugs.
Anyone else have a dog that will literally eat, or try to eat anything?
You mean like chewing the rungs on the dining room chairs? That's just additional charm, like the crayon marks on the wall behind the door that you can't bring yourself to paint over because your child did this 'masterpiece' when they were two.

We also have a corner baseboard molding that's pretty much destroyed, but all this happened during puppy teething. We do provide plenty of chewing objects for our dogs, because dogs chew, and they will find something.
Our first dog (a Siberian Husky) chewed the basement steps into splinters, but that was an anxiety issue, because he only did that when we were at work.
We used to buy a product called "Bitter Apple" and came in a small spray bottle. Non-toxic and a very bad taste. It did work as well as anything else.
When our husky was young (until he was 8 or 9) my mother would buy him a full cow shin bone, including the knuckles and we'd slow roast it and then spread an old blanket for him to chew it. Kept him busy for at least a week.
