When I do a back up of my current rom which is the best way. By this I mean should I be on the internal memory or using the external sd card? The one I recently did is done with teh external sdcard but I haven't tried to do a restore with it, should it be safe or have I made an error here?

I'll assume you used 2nd init CWM and did a back up using 2nd init.
It should be safe to restore from either the Internal Storage or the External Storage. It is, however, highly recommended that you place backups in the External Storage because when restoring it causes Internal Storage to wipe.
Hope this helps :D

Big Thanks guys, yeah I used the 2init CWM for the back ups and they are on the external card so it looks like I'm good to go. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
By the way is any one of these roms better at battery saving than the others because I'm not getting very good usage right now. I've tried Juice Defender and a couple of others but was not impressed with the results. I've done all the things that are suggested as far as cutting the overall use of power, still my battery goes down much quicker than it did with the Admire and that wasn't a very good phone for battery usage either. I have the extended 3600ma battery and it will go down to about 70% within a coupla hours of regular use.
