Dolphin and Flash

If you happen to be one of the users that has side loaded Flash Player on your Jelly Bean device to use with your browser, do not take the Dolphin update that is available. It will disable flash and it spanks your hand when you try to enable it.

I had do to a work around to get it enabled on the current version I have (Dolohin 9.4.1 and jetpack 2.0.1) which didn't want to let me enable it either. That work around was to go to an older version of dolphin and go into settings and set flash to "always on" then upgrade. However when I upgraded this time it forced it back off. Luckily I have TB backup of my apps and just went back to the version I had.

I know they tell us flash is not supported on Jelly Bean, but that is kind of a lie. The YouTube app Jelly Bean comes with has it embedded in it. Eventually flash will go away, but right now it is still used to a wide degree. I fired off a nastygram to Dolphin about spanking out hand when trying to enable it.

I got a response out From dolphin and they gave me a link to one that supports it. I have 9.4.1 of dolphin running just fine with flash I make a backup before updating any app so I was not stuck.

The 9.4.2 one caused the issue. I had 9.4.1 running flash from the moment it came out with no needing to mod it. The secret was to have flash enabled on the dolphin before with settings set to "always on", and then the settings carried over.

Here an excerpt of the reply email that I received from Dolphin Support Team. It contains a link to a 9.4.2 version that is supporting flash player on my device running JB. I downloaded it and ran the update (with it keeping my settings).

Thanks for taking time to contact us.
You can download the beta who supports Flash here:http://bit.ly/10GcmeQ, and you can go "settings->web content->flash player" to enable the flash support.

I just went to the desktop version of YouTube and played a music video with no problems..

Well apparently my email to the dolphin team has been of good use. There is a new update for Dolphin on the play store and in the "What's new" part of the description, it now shows flash support can be enabled again.
