Root Donations for weblexa

I felt I should give you guys an update on my progress with trying to get MIUI ported to the Spectrum... Not having a whole lot of luck. Since CM7 isn't available, I figured I'd try using Eclipse as a base to try and at least get MIUI GB ported, but I couldn't get it to work.

After talking with some of the other MIUI.us devs, we've came up with another way to possibly get MIUI ICS ported without having CM9 available, but its a complicated process. I'm hoping it will work. If not, I'll probably have to wait until we have CM9.
 
can you devs just make a rom based on the v6 ota instead of making porting miui or cm9 since it is very hard without an official ics. when the official ics comes out it will be easy to start porting ics roms.

im saying this so you guys dont have to waste your time on porting when you cant get it to work.it will be much easier if you just wait until ics comes out.

for example D2A had the spectrum for about 2 months already and hes been trying to port cm9 with no luck.


im not trying to be mean or anything but im just say so people could have another rom to play with

Thanks for the update Web..I hope you guys get this figured out!

There are 2 v6 roms already so why do we want anymore of them? the devs will get it figured out in time...these things don't just magically create themselves. iirc you were the person on the eclIpse forum who was complaining about everything not being fully themed and pissing ppl off there? maybe we should be thankful we even have any devs (thanks to the people who Donated) working on our specs and let them do their work! I'm gonna stop now before I get in trouble.
 
not trying to beat up on you phillip but you do complain a lot :/

I actually know where you are coming from but, because we all know ics is coming soon it really makes sense that the devs are working on a ics rom because if they released one for v6, and then 2 days later the ics update came out, no one would even be using their rom so it would be a big waste of time.
 
im not even complaining I WAS JUST STATING THE FACTS --- ITS HARD TO PORT CM9 AND MIUI. IT WOULD BE EASIER WHEN WE HAVE AN OFFICAL ICS AND THE SOURCE CODE FOR THE PHONE.

i do agree... it would be nice to have more to play with... with all my phones.. samsung omnia. htc touch pro 2. droid eris. samsung fascinate. ive never used a single rom as long as ive used brokenout 3....
id love to have ics... ive been playing with my gfs nexus s and with miui ics its smoother than my spectrum has ever been..

seems like atleast one of the devs could keep perfecting v6 so our phone could atleast be better than it is...

Believe me, I want more ROMS as much as anyone..thats why I've donated $ and tried to recruit more devs to make this happen. I agree with IMU, because in month or two, hopefully less we will have ICS so v6 will be irrelevant, so why would a dev "waste" their time on a ROM that wouldnt be used for very long? As far as people selling their Spec's, I dont really care because its their own personal choice. I've said it before and will say it again. If we want development we have to contribute/donate to getting dev's like Web,D2A,Savoxis whoever it may be a device to work with. I wish they were able to have something done by now, but I know they are doing what they can, so we gotta be patient and wait.

Oh by the way, I think MT has done a good job with Broken Out and I couldnt imagine having no ROM's for our Specs'
 
people (including myself) are starting to get OS envy because we want the newest software. It's a shame that so many phones run android because it makes it hard to get updates to them all.

I most likely will be sticking with my spectrum because I want to wait and see what happens with the new devs and how things will be on ICS. If things still seem to be stagnant a month or so from now and I have the extra funds I may just end up buying a used Gnex. At the end of it all I like the spec more in so many ways but for me it's all about the UI experience and the Gnex is where it's at right now.

You dont know that ICS will come out in a month or two or less. There in no LG phone in the U.S.A that has ICS officially yet. so what makes you think that it will come out for the spec in 1 to 2 months.for all we know we probably will get the update close to the end of the year.

it would be so much easier if they just wait until ics comes out and the source code is release.
if they made a rom based on the v6 at least it works and people can play with it

given the fact that there has already b een a leaked version of ics that's a good indication isn't it? way to have faith in the devs abilities btw and I hope you are proven wrong when they get it working. iirc have you donated to any dev getting a device? ya maybe not so much there? if you want another v6 ROM why don't you find a dev who will work on one then? it was made clear in the original threads asking for donations what the dev was going to work on so if people didn't want to support that project then so be it. regardless I'm not gonna argue with you anymore about this.

thats 1 leak, look at the razr it got about 6 leaks before it was official.

i do have good faith in the devs that they can get a working port.

im just saying to wait
 
yeah and look at how much more popular the razr is than the spec. also there have been newer ics builds on lg servers, just not available to us

*grumbles* some people really dont think before speaking...

You obviously don't understand the way it all works. The raze makes vzw big bucks while they have to sell the spec for $99 to sell em. Popularity n sells means everything to the carriers n manufacturers. Popularity is what attracts devastating to devices, well except those like me, death, MT, shabby, etc that try n do things for the unloved devices. ;)
 
I rather enjoy the fact that the spec community is so small and exclusive. It is kind of peaceful around here. The wait for ics is fine, im very happy with my device and how it functions. I look forward to see what all our new devs come up with and encourage work outside of GB. I would love to see atleast one more update to B.O before ICS, but i understand it could be a waste of mt`s time with ics potentially right around the corner. I will say though, i will stay on GB based b.o. untill ics has root and a stable working recovery. Then hopefully broken out 4.0?? Cant to see what cm9, miui, and velocity are all about too!

Web I apologize for your thread getting off track here. the spectrum community greatly appreciates any updates whether they are good bad or anything in between :-) keep up the good work!

the bionic is not as popular as the razr and it has as much leaks as the razr

Sorry but I disagree...the "machine that rules all machines" (hopefully I quoted that correctly LOL), at one point, had a ton of attention/popularity. Hell, every other VZW commercial was for the Bionic! I still keep my Bionic up to date on Eclipse...

I had to go back to stock V4 and take the OTA to V6 yesterday due to the fact that I'm getting a warranty replacement on Tuesday and I have to say I agree with the above statements specifically "The wait for ics is fine, im very happy with my device and how it functions." I have absolutely ZERO complaints about my 'now' stock Spec, over the last 24 hours I have been pleasantly surprised. In terms of snappiness, no lag and functionality its "KICK ASS!"

the samsung fascinate was a pretty popular phone on verizon.. after i bought mine i saw them everywhere.. but it was still the last sgs to get the official 2.3 update .... (continuum never got it) cm7 took forever to get working right...

im not saying devs need to stop focus on cm9/ics but im just saying we should have atleast 1 dev making stuff for us to use in the meantime....
