Don't be shy - admit it - have you dropped your droid yet?

Mine fell from the back of the couch to the hardwood floor. Heart still beats... No damage. I have the Zagg and the verizon insurance so topple away!! HEHE.. ummm.... not really, I love my Droid!!!
 
Not dropped exactly but when I hit a fairly severe bump in the road the Droid popped out of the mobile mount I got from Verizon.
No damage at all since it hit the carpet.
I was using the mount in the horizontal position and it is now clear that with this particular piece of cheap plastic it will easily pop out again.
I'm now using the mount vertically. Didn't want to since the power connection is now coming out of the left side :(

I throw mine on my bed all the time...missed the bed once =/ Thankfully it landed in the pile of pillows beside the bed.
 
Elucas: You must live in a bubble in the middle of the desert where you sit indian-style on the floor as to prevent anything from "dropping" and/or anyone bumping into you, or knocking your stuff over. You must be like that TV show Monk. You've never dropped anything? I don't buy that.

Drop a baby? Really? First off a Baby isn't normally pulled out of some holster on the side of your jeans while you rush to answer an important phone call or maybe even while you're doing 80MPH down the highway, two hands (sometimes one) then typing on it while you hold it in the air is pretty different from holding a baby. It's not like you're trying to change the baby's diaper while holding him/her in the air.

Clearly you don't have children. So to answer your question yes I've had a laptop hit the floor before thanks to my two year old tripping over the power cord. Regardless of how careful you are a two year old will always manage to exactly what you tried to prevent.

You move your laptop and place the cord in a way that a child shouldn't trip over it. Somehow they decide instead of walking by the area where you cleared the cord, they'll mountain climb up the couch while leaping from the couch to the ottoman for pure excitement tangling their little foot in your laptops power cord in the process.
 
I think I had a small heart attack when the thing slipped out of the box onto the hard-wood floor before I even got my grubby hands on it! I can't believe I dropped the thing in the first minute I owned it! It didn't have it's battery in yet so it was a tiny bit lighter. And luckily after it made 'first contact' with the ground the rebound hit my foot with a sock on it.. so it wasn't so bad. But I said ALL KINDS of nasty things as I bend down to pick it up.

I have to admit.. with the weight of this thing in my hand in that huge beautiful screen... I kind of live in fear of dropping this thing (again).

I cannot imagine anyone being more carfull with their stuff than me but it happens. Really hard to believe it's not happened to everyone else too.

It's true, I should know, I've used it enough.

1st time - knocked phone off dock into lake. Walked into the store same day and got a new one
2nd time - Phone fell off the boat. Walked into store same day and got a new one
3rd time - Dropped day old Razr in pitcher of beer passing it across the table. Walked into the store, got laughed at, and got a new one same day.

It's been a about two year since I've had to get a phone but I know they don't replace them in store anymore but overnight them to you.

If you got the insurance then you will be covered no matter what, but it will be $75. deduct and I think you can only claim like twice a year.

I got insurance, cause my 6800 went into the lake last year. Thx for insurance then.

I think the deductible is actually either $79 or $89 now for smartphones and Blackberries. It used to be less.
 
Best Buy is like 10 a month, no deductible.. Over time the extra 2 or 4 dollars adds up to over the deductible though, so..
 
Careful of the Best Buy one. I used to work there for almost 7 years and that sounds like a Service Plan. Problem is they don't cover water or loss/damage. Make sure you check. It might have changed in the past 2-3 years since I've been there.
 
Today I was at lunch with a couple of fellow employees. We were literally talking about this thread and the guy next to me squeezes his lemon, some of it hits my phone, I go to clean it and the phone falls right out of my hand, onto the hard floor, then bounces and falls down a level onto another hard floor. I about cried, but all seems to be well... Still inspecting
 
A good friend of mine dropped her phone into...the SHARK TANK at the New England Aquarium last year while trying to take a picture.

Needless to say, I got a few good giggles out of that one.

I have dropped many phones for many reasons, but they were almost always in their leather cases, so no damage was done.

Lol - my boy at work almost dropped it on Wednesday....

I myself have 'thrown' it on the bed a couple of times, but no real drops.

And I intend to keep it that way.
 
OMG ... It dropped from my asurion replacement case carrier for an old blackberry i had ...anyways ..i was running to a nearby garbage bin and it fell from my belt onto the CONCRETE floor and it skidded alittle :eek: my heart fell out with it .... SCREEEN inpecably no scratches .... but the erges of the mettal have a couple of scratches and its silver holes where the pain peeled ... the worse part is that i was planning to return it to BB because i have been getting a lot of reboots and freezes ... now i dont know what to do ...

Grr, I hate those kind of drops.

I've only dropped my phone a couple of times and that was when I was sitting in the car and completely forgot about it. Got up and heard three loud thumps on the concrete floor.

I looked forward, and skipped two heart beats and prayed my phone didn't get demolished. It got a few dings, but nothing too major.

(I've noticed that when I drop my phone, it takes me about two to three days to get over it, lol)
 
I said this years ago on another forum when asked about my phone back then..."Drop it? I'd sooner drop my child!" :eek:

(They are 17/14/and 12, so they are all ok!):D
 
I've only had an extremely dumb phone for the last three years. This is a big leap for me. I got lucky on Amazon today and found a brief window when they had them in stock and I ordered WITH insurance. Now Amazon's showing 5-7 weeks for shipping! I think the Droids are selling like hotcakes.

After reading this thread, I'm going to sit on the carpeted floor when opening the box. :D Lord knows, I've had those instances of opening a box in what appears to be the right way only to find the inside plasti-form nest upside down and the object of my desires falling out to the floor.
