Ok there are a few things the OP should know about cellular technology. First off at the current moment THERE IS NO TRUE 4G SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES. The IEEE defines 4g as a cellular technology that each tower produces 1 gigabit of bandwidth. The only technology I'm aware of putting that out currently is called wi-max and isn't in the US. Now LTE should be able to get up to these speeds, or real close, but they all keep the bandwidth low in anticipation for an expanding customer base (and this works pretty much the same way on all carriers). Consider this with the fact that metro got the rights to LTE dirt cheap because they bought beta rights and it begins to look like plain greed. Besides they offer an UNLIMIED service and I believe that means if I have an android with tethering capabilities I shouldn't have to pay for a dedicated internet connection because I already have one So basically the way it works is if a tower starts to get overloaded they can up the bandwidth, but they don't because they wanna be able to squeeze money out of you. So don't worry man there is plenty of bandwidth to go around.

It is a good point that those on the sub $70 plans are already getting throttled regardless.

How many people here even have the $70 plan?

I have the $60 plan but I'm thinking about switching to $70 if that's the best idea.

i dont believe there are many people on the $70 plan as quite frankly you dont need that much data allowance unless you plan on streaming sports events and/or porn on your phone. if not then you're a drop in the ocean.

its about the amount of data you use not so much how you use it. metro will be more concerned with someone seeding torrents and uploading large files to filehosts from their phone than someone tethering their connection to look at facebook on their PC.

Lol, porn streaming is my biggest data hog.

Try hard core gaming through tethering, lol

Anyway, Metro 4G sucks compared to all big companies, ie: AT&T is 10x faster (at least in Miami area).

Then, get a Docsis 3.0 modem and see the difference! (10/100 instead of the 4/12 plan!)

I loose it a bit anywhere south of 242st and out towards key Biscayne too but it also happens randomly sometimes.... sunset place is also a deadzone sometimes.

My 4g drops in and out around palmetto bay. I get best service in homestead.

I am grandfathered in to the $60 dollar unlimited 4g with rhapsody, so I guess that counts

I'm sorry but it's obvious that the OP knows nothing of networking protocols at ALL. If you honestly think that metro is going to slow everyone else down because of Johnny Porno sitting in his mothers basement fapping to animal porn while we suffer then you've got a lot of learning to do.
1. Metro can't afford to do that. While they may be a LARGE provider for the DFW Metroplex, and a few other fairly large cities they're still not a large provider in general, and they need to keep their lanes as open as possible for new customers to "experience how great they are....n't"
2. The amount of "mobile data transmissions" and packets received, and sent from each phone is already pre-governed before it ever even gets CLOSE to you. Each user WILL and DOES have their own allotted amount regardless of their plan. They'll never break "X" speed, nor "X" Amount without being throttled whether they know it or not.

You're under the assumption that 4g is some type of a direct pipeline to the backbone of the internet, and it's not. Even if it were there are still federal regulations that they must abide by, and they - even at their cost (hundreds per month) - are not allowed to offer truly unlimited data, and maximum throughput to each user on the lines. It's just not feasible.
