Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

Well v7.17 is working very nicely for me. Cron worked beautifully overnight. It deleted my lock screen picture, but that seems the only draw back. Phone is definitely a bit zippier. All good really.

I had the same problem with Cron Tasks deleting or mucking up some of my Home Screen widgets, Fancy Widget and People Widget in particular, and I had to set them up again.

At Hawker's suggestion, I unchecked, "Zipaling (Zipaligning), Task", in Cron Tasks and that solved the problem. To be honest, I don't really think that you need to zipalign every night. I usually do it once, after a new ROM, or if I experience problems.

Remember, if you are on Neat, and you have the init.d option checked in STweaks, you will automatically have zip aligning take place on each reboot.

Personally, I think the only cron job worth while keeping enabled is the fix permissions one.

I'm so far in the past using VK. What should be on gents. What's a good room to go with this these days?

I'm bored and want to frustrate myself. Also has anyone put google now on their phone? Curious to what it's like.

using google now with a JB Rom caused massive wakelocks and battery drain for me.

7.18 is now up.

*Removed the GLOBAL UV mod. set per freq.
*Added Force WIFI OFF delay! now set to 30sec, the main switch is off by default.
*Updated ROOT app to SuperSU 0.98, will be installed if missing.
*Removed RAM cache clean job from CRON. too many against it, ok then it's removed.
*Fixed some bugs in scripts and corrected notifications in STweaks.
*Fixed ZipAling function and job, app will not get lost any more.

Please update ROOT and click on reset CRON in cron tab.

Hawker, Ironass, Syd,
Which version of Dorimanx are you three jedi masters running, if i may ask? and hows the battery life? Syd, are you back on Neatrom after your sojourn into rootboX?

Yup, back on neat. Root box was lovely. Stable and quick. But issues changing kernels, and I love to flash, so had to give it up. Was tempted to retry but the dev has slowed down work due to uni commitments, so sticking with neat for a while.

As for dori, have finally got it behaving on my phone, so abandoned siyah for a while. On 7.17. Not been on long enough to judge battery. Although iron ass waxes lyrical, so must be good.

There's almost too many dorimanx updates at the moment, shouldn't complain though.

N.B. "ICS MIUI users can use STOCK kernel, or all older than this one.

ICS support will be removed. only matter of time
."

Looks like ICS ROM users will soon be out of luck then and MIUI ROM ICS users already are! :(

Thank goodness for that... v7.17 was sucking my battery dry!

Sigh I just downloaded this and bunch of stuff. Is this the kernel to be using? Although that's a moot answer until I can access my internal sd again.
I was going to use this with Neat Rom although with what sydney said about rootobox looking cool has me thinking.

There must be an echo in here!

There must be an echo in here!

Sorry old boy!

Missed your post... besides, you never post the changelogs usually! ;)

This latest release seems to contain yet more cr*p that I'm not going to use.

This is rapidly becoming a boy racer kernel, complete with aerofoil, chrome exhaust and, "Go Faster", stripes. :car:

Give the old man a break. You know how excited he gets when it gets close to visiting time syd!

Ohhh!... visiting time... tea and buns!

Syd, did you have any notification problems (late gmail notifications) or camera problems in rootbox (gallery has stopped etc) ? is it as smooth as neat is? Sorry, I know this is a Dorimanx thread but hope no one will shoot me for asking these questions. I am wearing my Kevlar vest just in case, though .. Hope it offers some protection against canon balls too :D ;)

Just out of curiousity, why not post it on the RootBox thread then?

Rootbox JB ROM

Dammit! The kevlar was no use against the canon ball (with 3 hairs on top :D) Rips off the kevlar vest and throws it in disgust Ironass, I thought Syd was no longer checking that thread since he is back on neatrom (as am I) and hence my capital crime of asking this question here. ;)

LOL, I doubt whether ironass will kill you for it ! ;) Seriously though he has a point. As a mod on another forum, (elsewhere entirely) one of the most common complaints we get from members is other members posting about a similar topic to the thread, but actually in the wrong thread IYSWIM. It makes for confusing reading.

Anyway :

I've dumped dorimanx from V7.17, and gone back to Siyah. Now whether it was my "lets make my phone fly, and the battery be damned" attitude to tweaking it in STweaks I don't know, and I liked the Cron tasks options, but I kept getting random "pauses" and more worryingly complete freezes a couple of times, necessitating a battery pull.

Dorimanx kernel v7.19 for ICS/JB is up! :)

"Change Log:

*Added ZEN I/O Sched ported by VOKU, tested against FIOPS and didn't found any big speed change, it's FAST but FIOPS is little faster, so it's will remain as default.
*Added ported code by VOKU to improve SWAP processing if ZRAM or SDCARD swap used.
*Made CPU tuning and RAM tuning in cortex script.
*Fixed Force WIFI OFF mode, now it's will wait after screen time out and if user didnt turned screen ON, and delay is over wifi will sleep, and will be turned back ON if screen will be ON. this tweak is OFF by default.
*Fixed CRON for ICS/JB, now all jobs are in one file at /system/etc/cron.d/crontabs/root
and additions to this JOB file will be there after reboot.
*For now i have added all needed initramfs boot scripts for LEAKED JB-SAMMY ROM, but it's not all, ROM still stuck on boot, i need kernel source to port all that missing in my kernel. then ROM will work, for now dont try, it's will not boot.
*Big_bum took mission on him self to fix all spelling and grammar in my config xml for STweaks app, so now all descriptions look more professional! Thanks allot Big_bum for you contribution!
"

Download, here.

Didn`t try 7.19 yet but have to say i`m impressed with 7.18 :) super smooth + battery life on default profile better than on siyah 5.0.1!

"Change Log:

*Tuned RAM tuning for more use of buffers when processing files.
*Restored BOOT for ICS SAMMY ROMS,
*Made some reverts to OTG and MMC code to make it more STOCK and stable.
*RAM code cleanups from 3.4.y Android kernel.

releasing kernels at this rate will not allow me to really let the kernel set in. must say that until now 5.89 had given me the best battery life & deep sleep. the 7 series are still draining my battery quite fast, though i`m applying the same settings over all versions.
i`ll have a shot at 7.20, maybe...maybe...

I'm with you on that one! :thumb:

If you can live without all the bells and whistles of the v7.x releases, then this baby is the best for battery IMHO.
