Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

Tightwads can set profiles in CWM recovery under kernel specific options
:D

This is the same Hawker who has convinced his small children that the mobile Ice Cream van only plays its tune to let people know when it's empty!

Personally have found the extreme battery profile not that well tolerated on my phone, gives me some stutter on scrolling.

Syd, you really are the Johna of the kernel world. You've put the K.O.D; (Kiss Of Death), on this one! :ahhhhh:

The extreme_battery profile is slick and smooth for me. Try a different governor and/or scheduler to see if that helps. Maybe, ondemand and sio and set the Screen off to Conservative.

I can't say what the difference between the extreme_battery and battery profiles are as I haven't needed to shift off the former.

Just one more question before i fall into deep slumber (midnight here) :) How do you guys measure the battery drop (0.25 % per hour etc)?? Is there an app for this?

That was my next step, just trying to gauge whether it's worth paying around and fiddling with, although battery profile is slick as you like, so will probably just give it a day or 2 to assess battery drain, and if it's at the 1% an hour mark I'll probably not n bother.

You can use an app called Hawkers Battery Percentage Consumed Per Hour Overnight For People Who Really Can't Be Bothered To Work It Out For Themselves, available from the Play Store for

I'm having a few problems with Dori. I'm not sure if its problems with 5.89, but I've put Siyah 4.1.5 back on for the time being.

I was having to set my screen font back every now and then as the font size in apps, widgets and toast messages would randomly increase.

Screen auto-brightness would randomly stop working and would remain extremely bright.

I was also finding the phone being extremely slow to wake up from sleep (regardless of sleep governor) particularly when waking up due to an incoming call. The call accept/reject screen would take an age to appear, and contacts with specific ringtones set were coming through with the default ringtone. As this is quite a big annoyance for me, I decided to return to Siyah. After putting Siyah back on, I realised I should have tested this on 5.88, and also test without any undervolting or default profile on Dori before giving up on it, but I can't be bothered to test now.

If Siyah v5 doesn't turn out to be my cup of tea then I will certainly give the next version of Dori a go, as apart from these couple of gripes, I find it an excellent alternative to Siyah. Very smooth and great battery life, every bit as good as Siyah in this respect.

How strange old fella!

Not experienced any problems with fonts changing size at all.

Waking up from sleep is instantaneous for me on every governor with the possible exception of, "Sleepy", set as the Screen Off governor. This did present some problems as it did not seem to ramp up quickly enough to the On Screen governor and I noticed a lag on answering incoming calls and pop-up texts as well as a stutter on the PowerAmp music player. No problems with ringtone or message tone.

I've abandoned the use of the, "Sleepy", governor in conjunction with the extreme_battery profile and all is great. Very slick and snappy with the best battery life so far.

As for the previous version, v5.88, it was so good that it prompted me to start this thread.

Before installing Dorimax I used your Wiper, wiped cache, dalvik, cleared ExTweaks and Fixed Permissions. After install I used ExTweaks for Zipalign all apps and Database optimization.

Are you sure that you're not a victim of the Syd, K.O.D. :vamp:

I get the feeling the issue is with ExTweaks app and how its setting/saving as I was getting some very odd goings on with it, including a crash message preventing it to run which only a reboot would cure.

I might give Neat XWLPY a quick test today and give it a clean slate to try out Dori 5.89, but I've very happy back on good old Siyah for the time being.
:)

That makes sense. I guess you tried, "Reset ExTweaks profiles", in Recovery > kernel specific options. Might be worth un-installing ExTweaks and Pro and re-installing... :dontknow:

Maybe this question doesnt belong in this thread but i ll go ahead and ask it anyway since this isnt the Xda forum ;) I installed the NELP4 modem on my S2. Today my battery is at 69% after 6 hours and 30 minutes and the Battery Usage shows that Mobile Standby has used up 13% of the battery. Does this mean that this modem is a battery hog? because the time without signal is 0%.... Should I flash a different modem?

Yes butty, did all the usual dross.
I think my ExTweaks was protesting to the fact that it wasn't interacting with Siyah any more!

Right on both counts matey....this isn't xda, and this isn't the right thread!
:D

Even so, first off, install BetterBatteryStats to get an indication as to what is using the battery.
if nothing obvious springs up try your old modem again, see if this makes a difference

BetterBatteryStats is so confusing :( I wish Ironass would write a guide for dummies on how to interpret BBS and how to use it to improve battery life... Until such time as he does that though, do you have any pointers for me???

there seems to be increasing love on the xda dorimanx page for the JB Vaniila RootBox ROM with the dorimanx MALI verison - anyone tried this combo out??

He He :) thanks for that mate... really great info... Will try all that out before bugging you again ( atleast about the battery :) )

on 7.3, How can I boot into 2nd Rom? There is no 3 seconds waiting screen while the system booting. already enabled bootmenu in ExTweaks.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums yuanw! :)

Dual booting on v7.3 for the i9100 should, hopefully, be enabled this weekend or early next week. See xda post, here.

so then chaps, with gokan teasing us with his changelog for his fianl v5.0 release, who's going to stick with Dorimanx and who's going to have one last fling with Siyah for old times sake??

Even though I am getting very good results from the Dorimanx kernel, I will still give gohanmoral's last hurrah a go. :)

Just Tried 7.3 Today, And So Far Results Have Been Ok, Even Adding I'm My Space On Dolphin Browser Which Cm10 Hasn't Been Doing. Clearly Still Capitalising All Swype Words Though!

Does Anyone Know If, When The Jb 7.3, Gets Dual Booting, It Will Be compatible With An Ics Rom?

I Had Seen It, But Was Making Sure It'd Be compatible With Both Ics And Jb..... I Did However Read The Siyah page, And Gathered From That, That This One Will Be!

cheers Anyway :-)
