double data for 4G

Just an FYI, my moto Xoom is a 4G device but it doesn't qualify. It has to be a 4G smartphone.

I just had a similar experience, I opened a live chat with verizon and the rep told me neither of the two phones were eligible. However when I checked with the online tool it did give me the option to switch both phones to the 4GB limit. Before I used the tool I opened another live chat and asked the same question again, I did not mention what the online tool said. This rep said both my lines could be changed to Unlimited, which I had her do and I can confirm my accounts do say unlimited data now.

How are folks getting this? Where you previously unlimited data? Every time I ask, I get told NO WAY...and that the ONLY way that I could get it was if I was grandfathered in from a previously uninterrupted unlimited account. I did not have an unlimited plan previously because prior to the Bionic, I did not have a smart phone.

I was just trying to get the 4GB of data offered, the first rep wouldn't give me the time of day. The second just offered the unlimited I didn't ask for unlimited just the 4GB. I have been a verzion customer for 11 years so that may have had something to do with it. It may be worth asking again, different reps give different answers.

I'll keep asking...not sure why they gave the double the data unless they just found out that there is more room on the servers and it isn't as crowded as they thought. I'll try the online chat thing...it's the only thing I haven't tried yet!

Has anyone determined what happens if you get the double data promo on a 4G phone, then switch back to a 3G phone? Do you retain the higher data tier, or does it auto revert to the lower tier?

For those of us that switch phones often (for testing), if we get this promo, do we lose it as soon as we switch a 3G phone on the line for testing?

So, if you're getting double bandwidth for the same price, isn't that the same as paying half price for the same bandwidth?

So, if you pay $10 for 2 GB you're now paying $5 for 2 GB, right?

And there is your answer - drop all of us who have grandfathered accounts to pay half what we pay now for data.
