my hero is having some issues. i know they got sluggish after the update from sprint but now. thats been a while though so ive come to terms with it. i updated a few apps sunday no big deal. try to update a few more today and its just saying starting download and thats it. decided to check my gmail on lunch and i missed a couple of emails. tried restarting the phone and turing the network off and back on and still the same thing. please help!!!

For the gmail issue, clear data and cache in manage applications, then reboot phone.
Same thing for market, clear data and cache and reboot.
Also try to sign into your GTalk account and see if that helps for the market issue
