Root DOWNGRADE FAIL 3 times!

so after trying the downgrade method 3 times,the phone boots everytime with a black screen..i can hear the metro greeting and the phone just stays black.i followed all directions to the t and i get the same prob every single time..i really want my rooted 2.2 back any help is much appreciated! i end up having to use the recovery phone option in the updater is order to get my phone operational again.
 
I sounds like your boot.img is bad. Thats why the phone stays on the Lg splash screen. Did you root the phone before trying to downgrade?

I`m also having the same problems with my phone. But I couldn`t root it because it came with 2.2.1 so when I try the downgrade the phone just stays black after the process is done.

Please if you know any way to fix this, I will be gald to hear it.

Two words. User Error. In all cases. If need be I'll make vids of me upgrading and downgrading my own phone using either method I posted. That should end any debates on whether these methods are a result of my instructions and files or "user error".

I guarantee that it will prove the latter.

Here would be another good way to prove this. Show of hands here fellow citzens. How many of you here have successfully used either the LGNPST or other method?

Hello Andy, I`m not trying to say that your method does not work, the problem is that after the whole process is done the screen stays black. I think that it has to be with the version of the phone, because mines is MS690Zv4.

I honestly have to say that I`m new to android, but I can follow directions.
And about the videos, it will be a nice, but just if you can upload them.

Ok so you have 2.2.1 on your phone, which would be ZV4. The reason those methods were originally were post is because there's no way to root the Optimus M while it's on 2.2.1, so those methods allow you to go back to 2.2 or ZV3 if you'd like in order to root the phone.

I have been on 2.2.1 before and both those methods work flawlessly for me and many others. It's just been recently that 3 or 4 people have come along and started posting about black screens and bricking due to these methods.

Ok so what will you recommend me to do, because I just got this phone today but I want o remove all the bloatware of it. Please I really need that help
 
I think the videos would be good not to prove it works, enough people here have said it works, but to show what every step is suppose to look like for people that miss steps and think they did nothing wrong. I think it will really help, but don't want you to do more work then you have to. I do not have this phone but am planning to purchase and I am sure your steps are going to prove useful. I thank you for all the work you have done and hope people having problems with not working makes you not want to stop trying to help. Its people like you that take a wonderful product and make it something great.
 
You guys having problems should make sure that your environment can successfully run these programs without errors.


Many bad flashes are from the following reason:
Your usb connection to the phone should be PLUGGED IN THE BACK OF YOUR PC!!! Not the front usb plugs.

I suggest that you choose either one or both of my methods and to follow the directions to the "T".

As stated, both have worked for many people.

If neither work correctly for you, then download LG's own Software Updater here: LG Software Updater Application Download

This should restore your phone to a working state as long as you choose "Recovery Phone" in the menu like this:

Then never attempt to use either of my methods again.

ok,listen,ive read through like 30 threads about this..i follow directions very clearly and ive noticed 3 or 4 other having the same problem.im not trying to criticize your post whatsoever,in fact ive thanked you once or twice already.you post very good info on these threads.but the fact still remains,theres 4 or 5 people that are having the same issue.all we ask is what could this be thats making our phones stay black??its obviously all the same problem..the bad boot image sounds like a decent lead on a fix.but im somewhat new to this and am in no way any kind of programmer or computer wizz.however i CAN follow directions quite well..
long story short,im sure theres a few of us willing to make a donation to your account for making us a nice video tutorial on EXACTLY how to do this,from start to finish and in detail.and again,thanks for your help.

nobody was complaining.there were simply people doing the process and coming across an error.weather it be a user error on not.in fact this error will more than likely help someone else who may be having the same issue.it seems that alot of people are taking comments the wrong way.we appreciate everything you guys do and provide to us and arent trying to pi$$ u off.lol thanks for the help you guys :cool:
 
I don't see how it could be attributed to a bad boot.img. It's not the same as flashing any individual .img file to your phone. Both methods use whats called a Masterbin. The Masterbin's are the entire System firmware for the phone and were obtained directly from LG's servers.

This would be the .TOT file in the LGNPST method and the .BIN file that is extracted from the .CAB file in the other. It's exactly what is used if your were to take your phone to any flasher or to Metro for recovery by them.

For the boot.img to be the culprit would have to mean somehow the Masterbin has been corrupted in the process.
 
4th attempt and i followed every direction and it still boots up with a black screen.but if you figure out what the culprit might be,please share.thanks for your help!

Sorry my grammar is completely off. I just don't want him to stop working due to people saying its not working. I couldn't find another word besides complaining. I just noticed him getting upset at people saying it didn't work. I understand that you are just having issues and want it resolved sorry if my post was taken wrong. I am sorry.

Anything can get corrupted when downloaded or transfered through a faulty usb connection.

also disable antivirus-type programs. If the AV is attempting to "clean" a file, it's going to corrupt it.

Its all good.just didn't wanna give the wrong impression. But I didn't try it while the anti virus was downloading all the files.just when using the cdma workshop or whatever the last program is to get the spc code I think its called.do you think the AV would corrupt a file?
 
It depends on your av settings. Some people set their av to automatically get rid of files that are considered unsafe. Really another few things to get to the root of the problem. What operating system are you running? What usb slots are you using, have you tried changing them? Have you tried it on other computers? Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, resetting the computer between installs? Are all of your permissions right? Delete everything and re-download the files. When a problem occurs it could be so many little things that make a difference. I made a game a few years ago and someone was having problems installing it, and it was as simple as he didn't have wright access to the drive he was installing (was a work computer). The more information you give us the better we might be able to help.

Well I using Windows 7 32-bit, also working in a laptop. Haven`t tried any other computer. I`ll do the tips that you provided. Will post the outcome of it.

Switching to a new computer may help as you haven't done anything on it. All else fails uninstall everything and start back over from the beginning with everything disabled temporarily (AV, firewall). Sometimes if you even miss uninstalling one thing it can leave you with the same end result. I have had problems getting devices to connect to my laptop sometimes so try a PC. Heck I had a problem with my camera and it didn't work until I reinstalled windows. I wouldn't go that far but you never know.
