Root Downgrading to Android 2.1?

Just out of curiosity...is there any way to downgrade an Evo to Android 2.1?

I bought my Evo 4G and it came pre-installed with Android 2.2 then I rooted. Is there any way of getting this to downgrade back to 2.1? I never liked 2.1 but I was just curious if it was possible to do. I know you can get ROMs that look like 2.1, but is it possible to make it actually 2.1?

yep you can just flash a 2.1 rom. head on over to xda or google 2.1 roms for evo and you should be able to find some roms still out there.

And they run just like 2.1? As in you can't use some of the features that you can in later versions?

it should, the only thing that would be different is the radios. not sure how the newer ones will play on an older software. just make a nandroid and try it if you want. not sure why you want to do that, when we have all these great sense 2.1 and 3.0 roms out now.

Hahaha nah I was just curious is all! I know it sounds like a strange question, but I honestly wondered about it myself. I get all these people asking me if they can "downgrade" their Evo to 2.2 so they can root and I always wondered if it was even possible to downgrade whether rooted or not.

well yes on downgrading when rooted and no on downgrading when not rooted. really all we are doing when we go to the next ota is upgrading the software which for us is just flashing a rom and maybe the radios as well. but for those that are not rooted, unfortunately even the sprint techs can't downgrade the phones.
