Root Download errors

Suddenly cannot download updates to installed programs. Both Go SMS Pro and Google Maps download, and then fail to install with message "Package File Invalid". When I try to update Skype I get message "Insufficient Space".

Phone Rooted; ROM MikG 3.11, Kernel Anthrax v009

Card partitioned: says 232 MB available on phone and 6.11 GB on SD card

Thank you for your assistance.

I wiped Cache and Dalvik. Also wiped Cache and data from PlayStore. Still the same problem!

Go to the go sms and Google maps app locations and clear the caches. That might solve your problem.

If not you could try and wipe the cache partition and the dalvik cache, then flash MikG over itself.

As long as you don't wipe your data partition, all of your settings and apps will be saved.

I did a clean wipe and flash for MikG 3.1, BUT I only flashed the 3.11 update when it became available. What to I flash - the incremental 3.11 update??

Inpatience: I uninstalled GO SMS and Google Maps and then reinstalled them without problem. I uninstalled Skype, but when I tried to reinstall, I got the message "There is insufficient space on the device." This is despite the space available that I mentioned in the original post (232MB on the phone and 6.11GB on the SD card).

Rxpert I believe is on the right track try deleting the vending.apk and reinstalling it. I would do a wipe of cache and dalvic before the reinstall however.

I can not permanently fix this issue... i can re-install the apk and it will work for one download ... then mess up again ... so frustrated with it.

I removed the "New" market then wiped cache and dalvik cache, and I then reinstalled the "Play Store" apk I tried to update skype, but got the same "There is insufficient space on the device."

SD & Phone storage information now shows: Internal storage 256MG and SD Card Available Space 6.16GB

The ROM is MikG 3.11 and Kernel Anthrax. Have been on this pair since they became available.

I did not have any problems updating apps until today. I did nothing out of the ordinary prior to finding this glitch.

@smitty - maybe its an issue with Skype give it a day or two and see if it still does it.

@hove - yeah I just left that had some other issues mostly wake up issues even after I turned off screen off profiles. I had a few others to and of course I don't like the way he want's to offer a "hot fix" I understand his reasoning but think that's computer thinking and we should be beyond that. I really just see that being an issue for him

I didn't have the market issue however oh excuse me the play store issue. I'm not sure whats going on there and with the way he's packaged the new ROMS it's really easier to go to another ROM than to Reflash. I'm currently running Nitrous 1.4.4 Its smooth and fast. Its a very stable ROM and gets decent battery life straight from stock.(no other introduced tweaks) May want to give it a go.

Another plus is that it doesn't have the installer with it. While I guess its nice to have a GUI installer I really just prefer the old way

I dont have any "wake up" issues at all. Just this damn google play issue. I dont care for the hot fixes either really ... i still havent moved them to my card ... had issues with it. No need for the fixes yet ... not having any issues using the phone as i do .. so far. Only thing i can think of for the waking issues is you have your cpu setting set to low for screen off setting or something. I havent had one single issue with that. I must say that SOS X rom has THE best HDMI support so far ... it does not us HDMWIN .... and works so much better. Im not saying its perfect yet ... but works a lot better.

Wake could be set to low its at 245 the same I've used for every other ROM out there and never an issue.I have never used the HDMI and really don't forsee me doing so anytime soon. (course now that I said it i'll need it tomorrow :)) The only other thing I can think of for you is to maybe check out the permissions. Run The Fix Permissions and see if that helps resolve your issue.

It has been about a week and I still get the same download errors with Skype. The updates for the other apps I have installed on phone go along without problem(s) (so far!).

Any thoughts what the problem could be with Skype??

Thanks for you help.

Could be an issue with Skype. Never used it so hard to say.

Tried to contact Skype, BUT messages get sent back that the mailbox listed in the App Store does not receive messages.

Now get message "insufficient space on device when try to update Facebook for android as well as update Skype. Have >5GB on partitioned SD card.

Thoughts as to the problem?

Thanks for your assistance!

MikG 3.11 with Anthrax Kernel (Both for long time.)

Available space on SD card: 6.10GB

Internal Storage; Available space 248MB

May be a pain in the arse but you may want to consider cleaning everything and reflashing from scratch. Sometimes files get corrupt but not bad enough to cause normal issues but enough to do things like this. You can try to fix permissions and try to download again however since this seems to be an on going issue maybe you should wipe it all and start from scratch (Make sure to backup first)

Sorry for the Naive question, how do I fix permissions. What to "erase"?

Only time to be sorry for a question is when you don't ask :)

What Recovery do you have? If you have Amon RA or the AR Style you can scroll down to other and choose that then choose Fix Permissions. There are apps like ROM Toolbox that Let you fix permissions as well.

As far as erasing make sure you do a TB then do a Nandroid. I would wipe everything With exception to SDCARD. DL the latest MikG and Anthrax Kernel b4 wipe. Have those along with anything else you need to flash in the ROOT of your SDCARD (Upper Most Level "/") When you are Restoring apps with TB make sure you do not restore any System Data, User Data Only.

I did the fix permissions in the 'other' of Amon RA, but it did not fix the problem. Since everything worked after i flashed the MikG3.11 update, can I merely reflash the update again after wiping cache and dalvik?

It won't hurt to try. You may just want to get the full thing and wipe and Reflash. Make Sure You backup before doing anything though that way if there are issues you wont have lost your valuable data.

Wiped Cache & Dalvik Cache (X2) and then re-flashed MikG 3.11 Update.

Then tried to update Skype and got the message insufficient space on device.

Tried to update Facebook for Android, able to download via Play Store but after attempt to update, got message "Package file is invalid""

Had the same problem as you constantly when trying to update market apps but on a different Rom(MIKg3.11). To get rid of the insufficient space warnings I would use Root Explorer and delete everything in the /cache/dc folder prior to trying to update any apps.

When I would get the invalid package file errors, going into settings-applications-and then clearing the cache and data for the play store app would usually fix it.

But I got another evo the other day and had to reroot and reinstall everything. I was having problems updating still on a fresh flash UNTIL I used A2SDGUI to move the dalvik cache to the sd-ext partition. Now the phone is finally working good, it let me update 17 apps without a problem!
