Downside to purchasing through Wirefly?

Ordered on the 6th and 24 days later it is finally in my hands. Time to put my Pre (which had been good to me) up on eBay.

Hello guys from Wirefly!
Can you please let us know when do you estimate to begin taking orders again? I'm upgrade legible on July 1st and don't want to go BB store...

Kindly appreciated.

Let me tell my tales of Wirefly, I've ordered my last 5 phones thru them and have never had an issue until now.

When I ordered it on June 13th, the customer service rep told me that even though it says 1-2 weeks, in all likelihood it would be in stock with in the first week. That one is forgivable I guess.

I then received an email friday stating "good news" that my phone would be coming in early this week and I would receive shipping confirmation. I also received a call from my local BB where I had my name on a list, that my Evo was in. Because I'm a cheapskate I opted to wait 3-4 more days for the one I had on order with Wirefly (since I received the email stating it would only be a few days) due to no tax and Bing.

I checked the "where is my order" page Monday (like I do everyday 20 times a day) and my status had moved from "Approved-Awaiting Inventory" to "Processing". I almost peed myself and immediately started chatting with a cust service person to see if it would ship out today or tomorrow. She came back and said there was a error and I wasn't suppose to receive that email, and they were still processing earlier dates. Which means if I wouldn't have called and she didn't check on the phone and catch the error, it would have shipped Monday. Then my status went back to "awaiting inventory". Now I was pissed because I let the BB Evo go and of course they didn't have anymore in stock and I would have to go to the bottom of the list. The wirefly cust service person, put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then she did tell me they were expecting another shipment in a few days and my order would ship with that.

So I had just gotten over that snafu and I woke up this morning and checked my status and it was back to "processing". I checked it a little while later and it was on "credit decision" and said for me to call them.. When I did they told me that there was in error in the system when it was trying to process my order. Well it wasn't for lack of money, or credit, so I don't know what type of error they had, but when they got the error, they just gave my phone to the next person down on the list and they had already shipped all the phones from this shipment.

I'll never get this frelling phone, and I want to kill somebody when I get that "robot" person that tells me the same thing every time I call!! Grrr!!!

So frustrated, now the only thing I can do is wait, or go get an iphone!!

Can you help me Ari?

I've talked 2 people into getting this phone from Wirefly and they both ordered after me and will receive their phones before me!

Well I got the phone, and it's a new build so I'm happy about that, but their activation process sucks. The hands free activation didn't work and when I called their phone support they were like "just wait 24 hours"... tempted to just do it thru the sprint site.

EVO page on Wirefly shows that you can order it, but if you click "Shop Now" it takes you to some Samsung phone and the EVO doesn't show up. What gives?

So what ended up happening?

It's been fixed. Now when you click the image it takes you to the correct phone. Only problem is you can sign up for the wait list (2-3 weeks).

Walmart is out again. It's been off and on all day. I'm wondering if their stock status system is that accurate or they are having issues?

As promised, we wanted to let you know that Wirefly.com is once again taking orders for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. We anticipate shipping orders that are taken beginning today in 2 – 3 weeks from the time the order is placed, provided of course that your order is approved by Sprint.

NOTES (in anticipation of your questions):

1) If you previously ordered an EVO from Wirefly and have not received a shipping notification, your order should now be shipping or will be shipped within a few days. Please feel free to send me a PM with your order number if you have any concerns about your pending order.

2) As part of the Wirefly Bing Cashback Weekend Sale which was announced earlier today, orders placed on Saturday 7/3 or Sunday 7/4 through a qualifying link on Bing.com will be eligible for $80 Bing Cashback per phone (even if the order is not shipped until after 7/4). The $80 Bing Cashback offer is ONLY available for orders placed between 12:01am EDT Saturday 7/3 and midnight PDT Sunday 7/4.

Ari- pardon me for asking a few stupid questions:

1. How likely is it that phones ordered today will ship in 2-3 weeks? I ask because I will be out of the country from the 24th - 30th. I know it's a dumb question to ask and nearly impossible to answer. But I have been waiting to get this phone for quite a while and this opportunity is the best so far.

> It's very likely, we just don't want to make it a guarantee.

2. Does the Bing cashback apply to EVO 4G orders placed on the 3rd and 4th?

> Yes, be sure you place your order properly through Bing. Instructions here: Wirefly.com Announces Bing? Cashback Sale for Holiday Weekend | Wirefly Learn

3. Would ordering the EVO 4G now require payment up-front or will I be charged when the phone ships?

> You will not actually be charged until your order ships, however the funds may appear to be held until that time.

4. Lastly (and thanks for bearing with me), I will be porting my number over from AT&T. I'll have current service with my iPhone 3G until I get the EVO and activate it correct?

> Yes, activation will take place automatically after you have received your phone. After charging it up, however, you can use it on WiFi to your heart's content until the activation process is complete.

I know- you have probably answered each question at least 10-15 times since the beginning of this thread, just want to be sure.

Please see answers above.

I wish I had just paid an extra 50 bucks or so and went through a different company. Wirefly is ridiculous and has the worst customer service I've ever seen. I'm still wanting to figure out why my order placed on the 7th is still awaiting inventory nearly a MONTH later when I see people posting on here that their orders placed on the 10th or later have already shipped out. How is that? We've tried talking to the live chat people nearly 200 times, just the same crap over and over. Tried calling about the same amount of times and ofcourse we get connected to someone in India who we can hardly understand and who doesn't know crap about an Evo phone except to just read us some more crap off their wirefly computer screen which just so happens is the same junk the live chat people tell you over and over. I knew I was ordering an out of stock phone but this is just crazy. They told me it would ship in 1 week, now its 1 month later and still "awaiting inventory". Whatever. My next complaint wont be to Wirefly again, it's gonna go to the Better Business Bureau.:mad::mad:

Azmodeus, I'm sorry to hear about our delay in getting your EVO to you. While orders cannot be shipped until approved by Sprint (sometimes a several day process), I certainly understand your frustration and will get your order escalated. Please PM with your order number so I can have our team look into it for you. Thanks, Ari

Just pmed the order number but I don't see how escalating it is gonna help much if they've already shipped all the stock out again and missed mine. So escalating it would mean i might get one shipped on the next shipment a week or 2 from now? We've already talked to Sprint more than once too, and they told us our order was approved by them a long time ago..like around the 11th. Unless you're personally gonna jog down to the shipping department and put the phone which is out of stock again into a box and ship it to my address then I doubt this as usual isn't gonna do any good either. Sorry for the venting but I'm so sick of Wirefly, I bet you hear this kind of stuff all day long. You should switch and work for a better company, this one is pure junk. :D

Azmodeus, our records indicate you placed your order on the evening of 6/13. You then canceled your order on 6/14, and asked for it to be reinstated several hours later. Your order is scheduled to ship in the next several days.

i havent had a prob with wirefly on the american side! i refuse to speak to someone in india!!!

called today due to a screwed up curve and john here in the states helped me!

personally just ask 4 a manager and he/she will get on the ph and you need to ask to speak with the corp office here in the states and you will be all set! and then just ask that person in corp for the local # and u will never have to deal with the outsourced cust service again!

^ This is incorrect also. We placed an order for 3 phones, one being the Evo. Well several hours later after the order was placed one of the reps I guess in India canceled the whole order of all 3 phones because the Evo was not in. So we filed a complaint on the rep that cancelled us without asking and they then told us that our order was being reinstated and would NOT affect the shipping date. So apparently that was also a lie and it did affect the shipping date? Like I said...wasting my breath. I suppose maybe in the next "several days" as you put it I MIGHT receive my Evo.... about a month and a half after the order was placed. Nice, very nice.

We received this email from Wirefly 3 days ago on the 30th...

Dear (name omitted for privacy reasons),

Great news! Your order has been approved by Sprint and is now being picked and prepared for shipment.

There is no action necessary from you at this point.

-----------------------------------------------
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
-----------------------------------------------
Once your order is ready for shipping, we will send you another e-mail.

To check your order status or view and print your order details, please go to (link omitted for privacy reasons)

Sincerely,
The Customer Service Team at Wirefly.com

Now if our order was delayed because of the cancellation that occurred on the 14th then why are we being sent emails from Wirefly assuring us that our order is ready... Also this email was sent 8 days ago on the 24th...

Thank you for shopping with Wirefly.

We received some encouraging news from Sprint today, and now expect your Sprint HTC EVO 4G order to ship early next week. Sprint has released a new allocation of these devices, and based on your order date, we expect your order to be shipped and scheduled for activation as soon as these devices arrive at our distribution center.

Upon shipment, we will send you an email and update your online order status with a link to track your shipment via FedEx. In the meantime, this device will remain in “out of stock” status. Customer service agents will not have access to any shipping details before you do.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding. As you know, Sprint was unable to deliver inventory for the HTC EVO 4G as expected, and as a result, we were unable to meet the delivery timelines that our customers expect. We greatly appreciate your business and apologize for the inconvenience that this nationwide shortage has caused.

Sincerely,

The Customer Support Team at Wirefly

The 24th was last Saturday. The email indicates that the phones would be sent out "early next week". Obviously that was not the case as it is now Friday and we are still waiting for an email with a tracking number. I think this is totally ridiculous and I want to know when my order is being shipped. On a side note, when we placed this order we were promised that the other 2 phones, that were available by the way, would ship out the next day. This was untrue and we are still waiting on them as well. Not a good way to do business in my opinion.

By the way, the night we placed this order we received an email saying that Sprint had approved our order. That was weeks ago, so as for it taking a few days after they approve the order, well that happened long ago.

It sounds like Sprint didn't approved your order until 3 days ago. That's the generic email they send out when your order gets approved by the carrier. The whereismyorder link would have probably said the order was awaiting inventory.

I did the purchase just after midnight PST but had to cancel the first and try again because the Bing cashback was not reporting properly. I see the banner at the top of their page with the $80 but viewing my cart shows only $50 and for just one phone, not both (purchased 2 EVO's). After canceling the first order I opened IE (first was done in FF) just in case of a compatibility issue, logged into my Bing account, searched WireFly and purchased the EVO's. STILL, it only showed the one phone getting $50, not $80. Then, at the receipt page, I clicked the link to give credit to my Bing Cashback account which then takes you to your login page but it showed $0 credit. Is this because the credit is actually applied when they CHARGE the card at the time of shipment?

I was extremely careful in how I did everything to make sure I got credit. The phones were $189.00 each and those figures worked out fine. Anyway, can you shed some light on this, Ari?
