Downside to purchasing through Wirefly?

Wirefly Scott, will you also have more Accessories available with the Launch tonight?
Like the Body Glove case protector. I notice you have gel covers and universal body glove screen protector. But anything more EVO specific, or is that a Sprint store item.

Also i see the new EVO page on Wirefly finally, with the timer that's on my time instead of East coast time :)

Wirefly Scott: I appreciate your help, but I think you still miss the point. You only pay 9.99/19.99 for adding a line to your existing family plan..that is not what i want to do..i just want to upgrade a phone on an exsisting line in a family plan, you are not suppose to pay any extra money per month by doing that, you only pay for the phone and the activation fee if any.The idea that you are discriping is when you want to add a line to an exsisting family plan..it is a completely different story.

From what I heard from the phone at wirefly and from the additional clarifying questions I asked, I believe Wirefly_Scott is saying that you do not ADD an additional line. You are upgrading your EXISTING line by choosing to upgrade an add-on line. You do not necessarily pay more per month either if you already are paying that. So if it says $19.99, you will not get charged an additional $19.99 if you are already paying that.

Yes.

Choose your phone. Click RENEW/UPGRADE MY CONTRACT. Then click SEE ALL PLANS and choose the Family Plan Add-on Line Upgrade. This is not an additional line of service. After you add to cart, you'll be asked for the phone number and Sprint PIN for the line you are upgrading.

Please note that some Sprint smartphones are $19.99/mo. as part of a family plan (as opposed to the $9.99/mo. for plain jane phones). If you are upgrading to certain Sprint smartphones, you will only have the $19.99 option. This is not an additional line of service, but it may be more than you're paying per month today.

OK I wasn't going to go there, but if you don't mind the added hassle, then there is a better way to go about this and still have it be an online order for Microsoft's purposes. Order the add-a-line plan, i.e., for non-primary lines, as described above. When we run it through Sprint Friday morning, it will come back as the primary line, and our Credit & Activations team will call you immediately to explain, and to select the appropriate plan :). When you order, make sure you use a daytime phone number where you can be reached.

I mentioned doing this to Sarita over the phone. And she told me to choose ED450 only because it might have a different, better price for the phone. In the end, it needs to be fixed manually later through your "Credit and Activations" team, right? So in my situation is it okay to do either of these choices: either the upgrade add-on or ED450 individual upgrade?

Correct. The non-primary line on your family plan today is associated with either a $9.99 or $19.99/mo add-a-line plan. You are simply upgrading that. This selection is not adding another line to your plan.

Chaofun, that's not our official line, but yes, it should work the same way.

I'm told we'll have about 50 accessories mapped to the EVO tonight, but am not sure if there are EVO-specific items on that list.

I believe the timer is based on your PC clock, so it's approximate to say the least. In fact, it will go live for everybody at the same time, at around midnight EDT tonight.

Has Wirefly posted a price for the EVO yet?
Check back at 12:01am eastern tonight.

I wish I was eligible for an upgrade. Even with Sprint premier I have to wait til november since I got the moment last november on launch. I will say this. I used wirefly then and everything worked out well. They stand behind their group and sales. I would use them. Plus they always try to out do other vendors and resellers.

Wirefly_Scott,

If the EVO is ordered on WireFly first thing in the morning (on the 4th), when would it be delivered? Earliest is Monday?

This would be a new account in my case. Would it be eligible for the Employee Discount program that Sprint offers. Is that part of the WireFly ordering process, as something I'd have to do separately with Sprint?

Also, since I'm still considering the Incredible as well (no boo's please), when I look on the WireFly site, is there some sort of special monthly deal for Verizon where it's $10 less than their normal rates?

Thanks for your support on this site.

If you order a new Sprint account on Friday and selected Next Business Day shipping, then you would get it via FedEx on Monday, provided that Sprint approves your application quickly (if you have a strong credit history, it's usually a matter of minutes). Orders approved by 5:00pm are generally in FedEx hands before 7:00pm. If there are any issues, such as Sprint requiring a deposit, we will contact you immediately and your phone can still be shipped same-day provided that we can reach you at the numbers you provide with your order. Tip: If you live within close proximity of our Maryland distribution center, then basic ground delivery service will actually get your order to you on Saturday, and you'll save some money (FedEx Ground delivers on Saturdays, Express does not). Note we do expect to have enough EVOs to meet this weekend's demand, but in the event we get flooded with orders and run into a backorder situation, they will be fulfilled on a first-come first-served basis.

Current Sprint customers with a corporate discount on their account can upgrade through Wirefly and the discount remains in place automatically. For new accounts, we are not permitted to add corporate discounts at the time of the order. You must call Sprint after the phone is activated to add any corporate discounts to a brand new account.

Wirefly discounts the phone, but the monthly rate plans are the same as through any carrier store or authorized retailer (the only exception would be the occasional exclusive promotions we get, such as the Free Month promotion we have right now with AT&T).

I'm glad to see there has been a ton of good info in this thread, particularly from Wirefly_Scott. So thank you.

As to my original question, "Is there a downside to purchasing through Wirefly?"

I think the only drawback for me is the 30 day period where if the phone has a problem I have to send it back to Wirefly. Since I don't anticipate having a problem with it, I'll be ordering 2 of them tonight at 12:01 am EST and hopefully enjoying them on Monday. :) After that 30 days, I will be able to take it right into a Sprint store for exchange, since I'll be getting the insurance for it.

As for Wirefly, I had a good experience when I ordered my ENV2 from them 2 years ago and I don't see how or why it would be different this time.

2 thumbs up from me. :)

I think I see the issue now. For Verizon, the default plan view is 450 minutes, but the price is the 900 minutes price, 59.99. If I up/down the minutes on that page, it correctly shows 39.99. Seems be a display bug for Verizon. At lest on the Chrome browser.

Thank you for the quick and detailed response.

Maybe dumb question. Can't think straight with all the EVO madness!

If I choose the free Fedex (Ground I guess?) shipping to a Company address, will it also likely arrive with "one" day since the company is in NY State? Does that mean it will likely arrive on Monday?

I won't be around for Saturday home shipping.

In most cases, no. It depends on whether a computer algorithm sniffs the potential for fraud with that specific order.

Next Business Day delivery is $19.99. If your order is approved Friday, this will get it to you on Monday.

just to clarify a bit more, is that $19.99 per order or per phone? i will be buying 2 EVO's on a family plan

Scott -- what's the price? Don't have us wait until midnight...come on man be cool.

I'm hoping it will be $149.99 like the incredible, plus the $50 bing cashback to make it $99.99

Scott, no need to disclose the price, just a simple yes or no on my assumption will suffice...:D

I was wondering if anybody had legitimate reasons for why I shouldn't get my EVO through Wirefly?

The ONLY downside I can think of right now, is I may have to wait till June 5th or 7th to actually receive the phone. But the positives seem to outweigh that little issue. I've seen all the threads related to Best Buy and Radio Shack and I'm trying to figure out what the draw is for purchasing there other than getting it as fast as you can.

This is all based on what I have seen Wirefly do, recently with the Incredible release, as well as purchasing my last phone (ENV2) through them, but this is how I foresee it going down:

-EVO becomes available on June 4th, same as Incredible became available on April 29th.

-EVO is priced at $149, just as the Incredible was and is currently listed at $149. Both phones would be or are $199 on their respective carriers websites and at places like Radio Shack and Best Buy.

-Would be able to drop another $50 off price because of Bing Cashback program, effectively dropping the total purchase price to $99, without having to pay any sales tax. Still would have to pay $35 activation fee, unless Sprint was running a special through Wirefly giving free activation. (Much like AT&T is currently doing) But maximum cost of phone would be $135.

-EVO would ship overnight and best case scenario would arrive on Saturday June 5th, or worst case scenario Monday June 7th.

-No rebates mail in or otherwise to worry about or mess with. Just a lower cost for the phone overall.

Does anybody have any LEGITIMATE reasons other than not getting the phone on the day it is released why it wouldn't be a good idea to go with Wirefly on this?

I'm not looking for arguments or pissing matches on this, just really curious if anyone has any reasons for me to think about not going with Wirefly on this, if the previously mentioned aspects turn out that way.

Thanks for any insight or thoughts on this in advance....

I don't see any wirefly discounts on bing cashback.

I have ordered to wirefly twice before and both times i have had great service and no issues.

Scott
My contract with att runs out on july 11. I am planning on paying the ETF and switching over my family line with 4 phones to sprint for the evo. Is there any specific way i should do this, for example call att and tell them i am cancelling and need to port my number?

My ETF comes to 195$ and i have to pay this billing cycle ending on june 11? Am i correct in thinking that. I ordered through wirefly there isnt any fee that i have to pay since i am past the 6 months period right?

so just to clarify, i put a "dummy order" for a diff phone through wirefly and when the option for shipping came up it only gave me one option - fedex next business day -

does the system automatically determine that it should use ground instead of express since i live in nc so i will get it on sat instead of on monday?

thanks

New York city maybe. Your best bet is next day shipping to your home address.
