Droid 4

Not me.... I have at least another 15 months before I get another phone. While it looks tempting, I am waiting for MOTO to debug the Bionic. BTW, how much RAM does it have?

Not me. I like my Bionic and now that I've moved from the original Droid I don't really see a need for the keyboard anymore.

The only phone I'd jump to from the bionic is the Razr Maxx and that's because of the huge battery and it's still thin. Other than that im sticking to my bionic especially after the .902 update comes.

Nothing announced at the moment would make me jump ship. I guess you could say I am a fanboy. I have been with moto from t720 to razr v3 to droid to the bionic. I think that is almost 10 years. The only thing that would make me jump ship would be a moto with bionic specs or better, released with ics that still has blur. It would have to also be released before the bionic gets ics. I know I know... I am one of maybe 3 people here that really likes blur.

the only thing that drew me to the D3 was the fact that it was a worldphone. The D4 has nothing IMO.

To be honest I'm surprised there's still a market for slider phones. I used to be one of those people who thought they had to have a hardware keyboard -- I'm a touch typist so maybe that's why. I held out on getting a smartphone in large part because of that (and because I dislike Apple as a company) -- and the OG Droid was the first viable smartphone with a keyboard IMO so I jumped. I loved it at the time.

As time went on and I learned to use the on-screen keyboard, the hardware keyboard just became a nuisance. It would slide open in my pocket all the time and unlock the phone, causing general mayhem. I hated how loose and unstable it made the phone feel. I hated the extra thickness. In the end, I couldn't wait to upgrade to a non-slider phone (was jealous of the Droid X when it came out for that very reason), and it's one of the many things I love about my Bionic.

Guess I assumed most hardware keyboard enthusiasts would come around to the software keyboard like I did, but on the other hand, different strokes for different folks. The Droid 4 is a nice-looking phone if you're still into the hardware keyboard. Only other drawback that I can see is the non-removable 1785 mAh battery. Yikes.

This thread makes zero sense. Why would anyone will a candy bar phone want to jump back to a physical slider? And it doesnt have ICS or a faster CPU... lock this thread.

Well technically it DOES have a faster CPU, as it runs at 1.2GHz vs. the Bionic's 1GHz. But it's the same TI OMAP 4430, just overclocked like the Razr.

Agree though that it doesn't make any sense to go from the Bionic to the Droid 4. Slider, smaller 4" screen, non-removable battery. The only real plus is a newer version of Blur, which would be a deciding factor for ... well, nobody.

I don't blame you for feeling that way and wanting the thread locked. But if we locked it how could you prove your point? :D

If I still had my Droid 3 and still thought the keyboard was useful I think the 4G of the Droid 4 over the 3G of the Droid 3 would make it worthwhile.....but not at full price.

I actually liked the slider keyboard on the Droid 3 but gave it up after a few months to get 4G of the Bionic when my wife converted to Verizon and wanted the Droid 3 anyhow.

So...if I could magically trade my Bionic for a Droid 4 at no cost, I just might be the one person who would pick it over the Bionic.

The Droid 4 keyboard looks to be a lot nicer than the Droid 3 keyboard.

Have you "slider people" checked it out? Is it better?

I haven't yet, but the Droid 3 keyboard is excellent, and there are some things about the D4 keyboard that I would not like - rather than a shift key, a caps-lock key (so, no one-press shifts), and no good Alt toggle like the D3 has.

One advantage the D3 and D4 have over the Bionic is that they have the same resolution display at 4" rather than 4.3" - so, slightly more dots per inch. Of course, the D3 is also global right now, and the D4 will not be until later this year (and how it will be is not totally clear.)
