DROID Bionic And Accessory Bundle Costco Discussion Thread (Including Q&A from YankeeDudeL)

It says the accessories are a $160 dollar value?

I dunno, I don't want to sound like a "hater" but this bundle seems kinda fishy to me. Are they worried that the Bionic won't sell as well as they'd hoped for or something? Seems like they're trying to give some extra incentives for you to buy the phone. Eh, maybe I'm just a skeptical person.

When I first heard about this earlier this month it wasn't a worry that the Bionic wouldn't sell. It's more that Costco is going to be getting behind this phone in a way that's pretty rare for us. It's not unheard of as I know that they've done about the same thing with the OG Droid, and have had other special promotions in the past. However, it was relayed to me that Costco is also going to advertise this phone in ways they haven't before. This is going to be Costco's flagship device.

Probably not. We have two types of inventory, what's in store and what is home delivery. Phones are either one or the other, and if we run out, we can't order one online to be mailed. We have to wait until we get restocked. I'd find a friend, family member, or maybe someone who works there. You don't need a card to come talk to us at the kiosk, but you will need one to pay for the phone, as it's Costco's inventory.

Any chance you're in the Atlanta area?

and is that a no to online ordering?

It's not a solid no, but it's not likely. When we got the Droid 3, you could order it online, before we got it in store. But once we did, it came off the site. As far as I know, anyway. I'll have to ask to make sure, still pretty new there.

Hey. if you are working at Kiosk can you please answer my and thatguy188's questions?

Yepp. Did it with no problem back in February. They simply let me use my Main line upgrade to upgrade the 2nd line phone. Now I guess I need to do the same (Use the 2nd line upgrade to upgrade my main line phone)

Sounds complicating, but if I can do this at the Kiosk inside Costco .... you'll know where to find me once it drops.

Anybody know?

thanks

Oh yeah, sorry. I had a convo with ThatGuy in PMs, did say I'd reiterate that here, but forgot to.

Yes, you can do what's called an alternate upgrade with no issue. As long as there's a line with an upgrade, any of the other lines on the plan can use it. The only place an issue would come up is if you were trying to use a NE2 or if you had an early upgrade, which generally only applies to the main account holder after 13 months, and people typically only have one of those. Those can only be done at a VZW store. But if it's just your standard 20 month upgrade, than you're safe coming to Costco.

Good info to know. Time to start mapping out my move to the CostCo store in Atlanta....

Here are my choices:

5 Closest Warehouses

1 Morrow (85.17 mi.)
1700 Mount Zion Road
Morrow GA 30260-3014
(678) 201-0003

2 Brookhaven (103.4 mi.)
500 Brookhaven Ave
Atlanta GA 30319-3291
(404) 460-1915

3 Gwinnett (103.99 mi.)
3980 Venture Drive
Duluth GA 30096-5077
(770) 622-1330

4 Perimeter (107.37 mi.)
6350 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd N.E.
Atlanta GA 30328-4527
(770) 352-8660

5 Cumberland Mall (107.45 mi.)
2900 Cumberland Mall
Atlanta GA 30339-8107
(770) 431-1700

Looks like morrow wins - that would be about 11 gallons of gas for me. IOW, another $41+

I think this is a win win situation for me. $50 for membership, $50 for the drive, means I still save $60, *AND* I get a leather holder and car charger (which I already have one of, so I can sell it too :D)

And I most conveniently have Thursdays off from classes as well :D

Bionic Drop Day, here I come.

I don't have a Costco membership, but if I go to the store with someone who is a member, can I purchase the phone for my VZW account?

Is this for only new activations or can I pay full price for the phone and get the accessories.

Upgrades as well.

Maybe I should have said "You can't get that stuff from retail."

But then I'd say "Costco doesn't sell retail."

To clarify this, Costco only deals with contracted, subsidized prices. You can not buy a phone outright through us, save for one that we sell as prepaid on T-Mobile. And that's just a basic flip phone.

Hey Yankeedude,

Sorry to bother you, but if you wouldn't mind answering my one question.

I have a business account, but obviously this is a great deal that i prob wouldn't see on the business side. With that said, can i use my upgrade at Costco even though its a business account? Thanks.

If you have an upgrade on your business account, you should be able to get this deal. The only place business accounts differ is in the plan. We can start business lines at Costco as well. Just have your Tax ID handy. :)

For those of us who are nowhere near a Costco, I think Its time to test out walmarts ad match program. ;)

Probably not a chance in hell (remember: probably, check their policy). Where you might be able to get lucky is SAMS, however, since you don't even have a Costco close by, that might be a long shot too.

Just my .02 cent

After some online research and a phone call Wal-Mart will honor an ad such as this one, if the price of the phone appears on the ad. However I did see that the customer is NOT required to have the ad with them. The assistant manger I spoke to also stated if the store does not have the identical items the cost of those items would be deducted from the cost of the phone. So in theory a person might be able to get the phone for $139 instead of $299, if the Walmart you go to does NOT have all three "free" items.

Actually, quite the opposite. Demand is expected to be high. Worries of sellout and supply shortages as well.
