DROID Bionic And Accessory Bundle Costco Discussion Thread (Including Q&A from YankeeDudeL)

I have been told the online cannot touch Business Accounts but Store can.

The Kiosk at Clearwater that supposedly didn't get any yesterday miraculously sold 3. Decided I needed to talk with the Kiosk manager because there is obviously something shady happening. THey don't have a Kiosk manager presently, but the District Manager happened to be in the booth. He provided cover for whatever is going on. When you are at the Kiosk at 10:45, and they say the delivery has not arrived and not expecting any - and while shopping over the course of an hour there is no delivery - eat lunch - delivery has come - NO BIONICS. Next day - we sold three that came in the shipment....how does that work?????

I'm frustrated. Going to try to talk to the club gm when I'm up there next. I understand they are scarce and have limited supply, but if I am calling you several times daily and standing in your kiosk at approximate delivery time...I'm putting the time in to get one.

I can't imagine that every kiosk is so very finely tuned, especially one without a KM. About the only explanation I can offer is that we haven't been getting shipments at normal times (supposedly will next week, that was said last week, too). The first day we didn't get them in till after noon. Each time after that was a lil before that. Considering distances from the depots, I imagine some take later to get there.

For what it is worth, my dealings with the clearwater kiosk have been mostly negative. That being said, I'm sure this shortage is just as stressful on them as it is on you. Not to mention I had very limited dealings with them because when they didn't have any on launch day I promptly ordered online. I would suggest you do the same if you don't mind waiting a little longer. If your order stays processing for too long call them up. :o

It is a very unique situation for us. There's such high demand for this phone and such short supply. But people are starting to get their Bionic fix and I don't know how long the demand can hold out. But we're still getting phone calls and walk-by's at least 10 times a day, and we want to sell them as much as people want to buy them. If we had 25 Bionics on launch day, we'd have sold 25.

I didn't have the tax id, that must have been it! I went to a Verizon store after I went to Costco to get the Bionic(OG Droid was KILLING ME). The folks at Verizon rushed me to death to sign the contract asap and I don't like that kind of business. Is it possible to return the phone I bought yesterday and go back to Costco with the tax id?

Yes sir, you have a 14 day return policy to return the phone at Verizon, under no penalty.

Well ladies and gents, I'm about to become very scarce. I'll be on vacation all week, and plan on being far too busy to be on the forums (I'm going to Disney, wouldn't you be?). I will still check in occasionally, but I'm likely to keep my replies very short as most of it will be from my Bionic.

Now, you know most of the questions we get here are just repeats from people who don't want to sift through the now 12 pages in this thread. I can't say I blame them, I wouldn't want to either seeing how large this has become. So I would greatly appreciate anyone who can help to chime in and lend a hand whenever you can. Many of you have been keeping a close watch on this thread since it's inception, I'm sure you'se are all very qualified. :p

Everyone, enjoy your Bionics. Those of you still waiting, hang in there. There's a reason this deal is so coveted. I will use every single piece of this bundle this week (ok, not the screen protectors), and I'm sure you will too.

Online price of the Bionic is $249, Costco is $279. (local Verizon store $299) But you don't get $30 off the new every two at Costco. Though of course, the large accessory bundle worth $160 has useful stuff. Mainly the second charger, the car charger, and extra battery. The case Costco provided is blah; I paid $25 for a sleek Verizon belt case/holster. The bedside standard dock is handy but I could have done without it, and as to the navigation dock, I'll probably just use occasionally since it's there. The sticky mount won't stay on rough surfaces, only very smooth ones.

The phone is definitely a keeper. Just a little tinny earpiece sound quality but speakerphone sound is great, and sound through a wired headset is great for music. On 4G battery lasts 4 hours, but on 3G, one day, but...if I turn bluetooth off, GPS off, and only use Wifi on when I use it...the GPS and WiFi toggle Widgets are great.....I get 2 days and 2 nights of battery.

Picked up two bundles from Lakewood Ca. Costco on the 16th. Been using and loving the phones, but hadn't looked at the accessories until tonight (the 19th). Got everything I was supposed to get except extra battery's (both bundles were short)
Called the kiosk...the guy says that they don't come with extra batts. just extra charger...have to deal with it tomorrow I guess.

Yeah, do deal with them - he lied straight off to you (and maybe is stealing the batteries to sell to customers who didn't get theirs and / or online....)

My Costco's experiencing a shortage as well, none in stock for the last 5 business days! Yikes! Here's to hoping I can grab one by Friday!

I was told the extra battery is a MIR because of the shortage (which caused shortage of phones, I was told) but that nonetheless it would eventually come.

I'm sorry to hear about those with nasty reps at their Costco's as mine have been nothing short of fantastic! It's not their fault the phone is out of stock, but they are trying to help me get one soonest possible :)

It looks like Costco has taken the Bionic off their website, as I wasn't able to find it online this morning. Maybe there's a big shortage of them, or maybe Costco isn't offering it anymore?

They have been off and on the website for days. Seems they sell a small allocation - it disappears, then reappears a bit later or the next day. Keep watching.

All stores recieved 9 in today. These did NOT come with any of the accessories. (you have to send in a mail-in-rebate form to receive the accessories.)

FYI!

I was at Costco last night and the phone sales guy said they were doing a waiting list.......and he said the list was long........also, said the demand was very strong........

I got mine opening day at Costco with the bundle........I'm still happy!

Got mine yesterday finally. Was there before opening on the Saturday after launch and they didn't get any, so the kiosk workers tried to accomodate us despite not technically being able to hold any. Basically called daily and missed one small shipment they got, but finally go 6 yesterday and they held one until I got off of work.

Oh, and BTW - on day 83 of Charge ownership ;)

Went to the East Wenatchee WA Costco on Thursday and they had 16 in stock, they had 15 in stock when I left. I was given a form to mail in for the second battery, but all of the other accessories were in the bag.

Love this phone, GOODBYE Blackberry. RIM is circling the drain.

went to the costco in Enfield, CT today.

FWIW they had a BIG display and a TON of those little cardboard things you pick up and bring to the register to buy - so I'm guessing they actually had them in stock (that would suck to get to the register and pay and then when they go to get it out of the cage they say - "too bad").

The ad still said $279 including all accessories.

Good afternoon ladies and gents! I'm back, well rested, very relaxed and ready to get back into the grind.

Oh, I do have one thing that I think you'se will be entertained to hear. First day of my vacation, I pull into the hotel. Had my Bionic in my lap, but after an hour of so of not using it, I forgot about it. I get out of the car, and it happens. My Bionic falls to the ground. I didn't need to see it, I just knew. Cracked my screen a week after getting it. Nuts. Still works, and it's mostly not that bad, but it was not a great way to start my vacay.

Anyway, onward.

Have fun storming the castle.

It took a miracle, but it worked. :p

I suppose it's how much you value the accessories. And how you value your accessories will be directly related to how much you plan on tapping the potential of this device. I can say the accessory bundle has been worth it's weight in gold for me. I use the standard dock all the time for an alarm clock, media dock, the occasional digital picture frame, and most often to watch football. The navigation dock def came in handy while on my vacation, but I've also gotten use out of it to watch..er..listen to football when I'm still on the road. And the extra battery and dock, I doubt I have to explain why that comes in handy.

He's misinformed, and you need to return straightaway. You're supposed to get a mail-in-rebate for the extra battery. Ask to speak to the kiosk manager. If that doesn't work, ask for the number and/or email address for the district manager and regional manager.

Yeah, do deal with them - he lied straight off to you (and maybe is stealing the batteries to sell to customers who didn't get theirs and / or online....)

It's more likely he's misinformed. We won't get the batteries in store, they'll get mailed to the customer. I do suppose it's possible that he's using the mail-in-rebate himself and having them mailed to his location, but he would have had to made a copy of the receipt. Steel, are you aware of him doing so?

Yup, that's what I heard as well. I've also heard of a conspiracy theory that I won't embellish, even if it's what I thought was happening. lol

I believe the Bionic was offered on the website due to some stores not having it on launch. It's rare that a phone is offered online that you can get in-store. But this launch was anything but normal.

That's very odd. I've been aware of the battery shortage, but have heard nothing about phones coming without the bundles. Did yours not come with accessories?

That's what I believe all Costcos should have had. Or course, ours was moved around a bunch of times as they went in-stock, out-of-stock, and Costco tried to advertise other items. Still, we know what we have in stock when you come up to us. We do an inventory check every morning.

Welcome back YankeeDude...

Yes, received mine without any of the accessory bundle (all 9 came in that way). The rep made a copy of the receipt and the contracts etc, and filled out my rebate form. Hoping I really won't have to wait the 30-45 days specified in the form.

To clarify - I DID receive the fake leather case and incorrectly sized screen protectors..but did NOT receive the docks, extra battery, or charger.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi All, just got the Bionic, and thanks to this thread I got a great deal. My Droid original died Saturday, and I found this thread. When I went to my normal Costco, they didn't have any big advertising, just a flyer at the kiosk, but then again they also didn't have any phones. I called the store the next town over and they had 12 in stock. Less than an hour later I walked out with my new phone, and all the accessories (except battery of course).

Just wanted to say thanks.

I picked up the Bionic on Launch Day from Costco and have been really enjoying the phone. I came from an OG Droid that I thoroughly enjoyed, so I was excited to hear the Bionic was coming when my upgrade notice arrived back in July. It's been a long wait, but well worth it!

Just a quick question: Does Wireless Advocates/Costco price match other retailers on the Bionic? I was just curious, because I noticed Radio Shack has the Bionic for $199.99, and I thought I saw Let's Talk or Wirefly was advertising the phone a couple days ago for $149.99 for renewals. I was told "no" when I stopped by the kiosk yesterday.

Either way, it's not a deal breaker, because I like all of the accessories that came with the Costco bundle, especially the Nav Dock. It would just be cool to get a few dollars back to pay for the Seidio case I just bought yesterday, as the cheap leather case from Costco isn't cutting it. My phone charger hasn't worked worked since Day One, so the guy I talked to at the booth yesterday filled out a form to get me a new one sent in the mail.

What a great forum to come across and an awesome phone!

Josh

My Costco droid Bionic was $279.99 and of course the $150 accessory package came free. But Verizon online was $249.99 plus I could have got $30 off for the NE (new every two) discount. Ah, well. No regrets.
I got a Verizon belt holster case as like you said, the case from Costco, identical to what I saw someone get with their Sprint Evo also from Costco, was blah. Looks and feels cheap.

Costco would not transfer my 500 contacts on my previous phone so I went to VZ and they did it. However, those contacts, each one has a header that says Motorola Contact, and they won't sync with my Google account. I really would like this sorted about but nobody seems to know how to fix this.

I could be wrong about this, but AFAIK the only way to fix that is to.

1. Enable backup assistant + backup all your contacts.
2. Log into my verizon and download your contacts as an excel spreadsheet
3. Import the excel spreadsheet into your google account.

Or you can hand key 500 contacts into your google account online :(
