After about an hour of use the data connection refuses to work. Turning data off and on doesnt work. Only thing that works is restarting my phone. This is beyond frusturating having to shut off fone constantly. I bet an iphone wouldnt have this problem. Whos fault motorla google or verizon plz help fix this ty team

Honestly "ya the phone has internet but you can use it for an hour the u have to shut it off"
Mb i am just expecting too much and this is the way it is. For this kind of money in the year2012 i just expect this kind of shit to work.

There could be several software based reasons for this type of behavior. For instance if you have multiple power saving apps enabled that are fighting to keep the wifi radio off, or something has become corrupted. In any event this is not normal behavior.

You might try a factory data reset (this will clear all user data and apps, so back up anything important.) If the problem persists after that, you might have a hardware problem and it would be advisable to return the phone for a replacement.

go into ur data settings and ensure that enable data over mobile network is enabled make sure ur lte/cdma is checked after all this is done turn ur phone off pull ur battery and sim card clean the connections on the sim card and reinsert both and turn the phone back on and see if this works

Thanks for the replies. Appreciate it. I do not have any power saver apps. I already had to do a factory reset less than a month ago in ordee to remove a primary google acc. Dont like the sound of having to get a new phone as im rooted and i forsee nothing but trouble there. Also if i ever brought my phone in i know it would work perfect while in the store. I do use pda net alot mb that has something to do with just trying to provide info. Ill try the second advice too. Thx again and keep em coming

i had the same problem on my rooted bionic and i went into the store with it still rooted and running a good ics rom build while having data problems and the guy looked at my phone without really being concerned about the root or rom he wanted me to show him where to go to get the rom most techs at the store are already rooted so thats not really a problem its only when u send it back so if all else fails just run in to ur local verizon store and have look at it real quick for ya

You don't have to have power saving apps. There is a power saving feature built in.

Go to Settings>Battery and Data and see if Data Saver is turned on. It's possible when you did the factory reset, this was switched on by default because I remember having to disable this when I got my Bionic new.

Right above where you saw Android version 2.3.4 you will see System version ... it will look like 5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.us.

This is 5.9.902

... Thom

Same problem happened to me when I was trying to stream movies. So frustrating. Almost like they were messing with me by turning it on and off

You need to update. There is a night and day difference between the older versions and 902.
Most folks moved to 902 a few months ago and the pain abated.

System update is unavailable at this time... wtf?

What do the arrows beneath the 3g mean and what is the diff between white and blue

the arrows show data uploading or downloading. and blue means active connection and white is inactive.

download this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/24coa4t2oisuxzq/Blur_Version.5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US (1).zip
put it on the root of your sd card-ext.

boot into recovery. with phone off while holding both volume up and down at the same time press and hold the power button. when then menu appears use volume down to get to recovery and then volume up to select. when the triangle appears press snd hold both volume buttons and the recovery screen shows up.

when in recovery select apply update from sd carding use volume up and down to get it and then power button to select.
locate the file from above and select it. say yes and let it go. when it is done select reboot if it does not reboot on it's own

this will put you on 5.9.902

The icon is blue when you are authenticated to Google's network (for syncing, market, talk, etc.) It's possible for the icon to be white while you have an active data connection to the internet if Google's servers are down, though that is obviously rare.

I am rooted. O shit is that why i cant update.
I made it through the day without a data drop after cleaning my sim card. Fingers crossed.

I don't think rooting by itself will cause an OTA update to fail, but having the bloatware frozen or uninstalled will based on what others have said.
