I don't think rooting by itself will cause an OTA update to fail, but having the bloatware frozen or uninstalled will based on what others have said.

That's what I was leading up to. Rooting won't block an update but freezing the updater or being on a custom rom will.

Someone a lot more familiar with restoring something back to factory will have to advise you there, I am not at all familiar with it, sorry.
