Droid Bionic Processor and Screen Size

i was watching a bionic review & what i noticed was that for this phone to have only a 1ghz dual core, 512mb of ram & a qHD screen which needs to process 35% more pixels than the galaxy 2 wvga 800x450 screen. the scores that the droid bionic had from quadrant pro was 2800 with the galaxy 2 receiving a score of 3200, both were stock. now think about this for a second & youll notice that the bionic as i said before only has 512mb ram, a qHD screen that needs more processing & only 1ghz dual core cpu. the same was in antutu benchmark, the cpu score was high but i really paid attention to the gpu score which was 2490 for the bionic & the galaxy 2 had 2380, again remember that its a 1ghz with a qHD & 512mb ram on the bionic vs 1.2ghz, 800x450 & 1gig of ram. you can obviously see which of the 2 gives better performance & battery life. the bionic is reviewed to have up to 2 to 3 days of regular use! & a full day & a half of hard video, web & gaming. so with that said if you want you can over clock your bionic up to 1.2ghz to make it an even clock speed as the galaxy 2 & you can imagine the scores the extra 200mgz will give this phone. the screen is also comparable to the super amoled plus on the gs2 if you look at the google videos of bionic vs galaxy 2 youll see the viewing angles are just as good & the colors just as vivid but more accurate imo or the same to some, but with the benefit of the higher resolution screen. id say they are evenly matched but the motorola's gps, screen & cdma antennas are more superior in my eyes. check out the reviews & be your own judge. i was going to wait for the galaxy 2 on sprint but instead im going to buy the Photon which is the sprints version of the bionic but it has a kickstand & 1gig of ram instead of 512mb which would give it the advantage over the galazy s2. only problem is that they have the locked bootloader & ill have to deal with that until someone unlocks the device.

I, too, would like to know the source of this info. If this is accurate, it will make most of us pretty happy. We know that it is the old specs (and if I remember correctly, even the Bionic that appeared at CES was at least benchmarking well with only one core functioning), so we would have a lot of reason to be hopeful that the device lives up to it's boastful name.

This is what I found on XDA Forums. In which I believe The New Bionic will Follow suit!!!

I read that the Webtop Dock uses about 200 MB and the Atrix has 818MB Ram for Apps, with stock apps ( included bloatwares ) also what was said is that you get the full use of the 1G on the phone when it is not docked.

How about a 'Motorola Atrix' webtop dock? - xda-developers The webtop mode is actually linux (albeit Limited) itself which launches once u place the atrix in the dock or use the webtop hack. it allows u to have an open window of your phone on your screen. it doesn't just mirror what is already there.

Interesting. However if the processor is not more than 1ghz, I am going to pass and wait for quad core next year.

My D1 is ready to retire. I am ready for the Bionic. I compared screens on several phones today (X2, D3, Charge, Tbolt), and I didn't find any problems on any of them. If the Bionic is close to its 'guessed' specs I am ready to go for it with no waiting around for the SGS2!!

If the same base of dev work and design base from the D3 is being used for the Bionic (same chipset, so makes sense), the Bionic should rock real hard. Unlike the 512mb ram DX2, the D3 has no ram issues and usually has at least 150mb free (100 more than the DX2).

I am one of the more whiny folks here and have had zero issues with lag, reboots and audio quality rocks with not a sign of audio pops, even when playing games or browsing. Not to mention N64 and PSX games play even better than the A500, gTablet and Thrive did (all Tegra 2).

Folks should be loving the Bionic :) Unless the DX2 team worked on it :(

Why not just wait for octa core. If you always are waiting you will never get anything. Just curious why does it need to be over 1ghz?

At some point, OEMs are going to hit the wall of diminished returns, since to the battery tech can not keep up with all the chipset activity. Either batteries will need to get bigger, or for quad cores or higher clocks, the future 35nm process had better roll in to reduce voltage resistance.

Seems something has to give at this point with all things constant: Bigger battery, or shorter life between charges.

The 4460 obviously will consume more power (same 4400 platform), so based on how well the 4430 performs, seems that would be a better option with the Bionic, barring a bigger battery to offset power.

I got an X2 and am pretty happy with it. That said, my brother is still using his OG Droid and can't really afford an upgrade. So I'm thinking about just giving him my X2 and picking up a Bionic. Unless something changes, that's what I'm going to do. I played with the Bionic at CES (old specs) and it was snappy as hell even with 512MB ram. All in all, I'm glad they pushed the Bionic back and revised the specs.

You're nicer than me. I had planned on getting the Bionic and giving my brother my OG Droid. lol
