Droid Bionic RAM + 4G coverage

For you who think 512 mb of ram isn't good enough, be sure to pay attention that it is DDR2 RAM instead of regular DDR. Which is much faster

Your RAM could be infinitely fast, but if it isn't enough to run the apps & services you want to run, then it's not a good solution for you.

If your car doesn't have enough fuel capacity to get you to your destination, then who cares what its acceleration and top speed are?

Not sure what LTE issues you're talking about but here is a small video of Thunderbolt USB tethered in the middle of the peak hours in NYC: YouTube - HTC Thunderbolt Speedtest during peak hours in NYC

Many people in the TB forum (and in this one) have expressed that they've had problems with their data, be it connectivity or whatnot. I don't know if it's the phone or the service, but it's a pretty sizable amount of users that have made the complaint.

Does anyone think that Motorola tested the Bionic with 512 RAM and said "Hey, 512 doesn't appear to be enough.... Oh heck, sell it that way anyway!"

A better question is Does anyone think that Motorola decided to sell an otherwise superb high-end phone that's limited in one resource that might cause people to upgrade again within six months? I'd say the answer is yes.

Well now seeing the bionic may get upgraded since delayed... do you think 768 MB of Ram or 1GB?

And is it true that at any given time the atrix is down 500MB RAM because of webtop? I heard that.

Oh yeah, I'm sure you're right. My guess is they'll go straight to 1GB for a phone released after a handful of other 1GB phones will already be on the market.

No. If you google the phrase "My atrix has 800MB of available ram" there's another user reporting 700MB available w/o using the laptop dock. I don't know how much the dock apps use when running, but I wouldn't expect it to be a large percentage of the total 1GB.

True - "My guess is they'll go straight to 1GB for a phone released after a handful of other 1GB phones will already be on the market."

everyone seems to be forgetting that it is 512 MB of DDR2 RAM. This is at least twice as fast as the standard SDRam used in every other currently manufactured (or announced) device.

Don't believe the marketing.

Sure, it'll be faster RAM, but in REAL WORLD USAGE? Double the RAM > Faster RAM

I play Grave Defense HD and when I exit the app my screen ALWAYS redraws. Actually, the game crashes one in maybe five times and I'm almost positive it's due to lack of RAM (I have a Fascinate, so 512 total minus 128 for the GPU...so 384).

It's ridiculous to think that 512 is "enough." There's a definite, noticeable benefit to having double that.

The DX2 is proof positive that memory amount matters. It supposed to have 512mb, but less than 280mb is available for operation. About 100 mb is sucked up for the gpu and the other 130ish MB is MIA.

An otherwise fantastic device screwed by pi55 poor memory management. Returned mine and will wait for the Bionic or a miracle Gingerbread update to fix the DX2 issues.

I strongly disagree with that statement. If you didn't run Blur and had vanilla gingerbread, then maybe, but by looking at every single video of Bionic it's obvious that it just doesn't run smooth at all.
Hopefully they'll optimize as much as possible by launch date.

What videos? Of the old bionic? You can't use those since they changed the bionic entirely even the processor.

Why do people bitch and moan when the specs arent even out yet? Nobody for sure knows it will have 512 and not 1gb. I mean atleast wait until specs leak before you say its useless.

I would hope so. I mean maybe verizon pressured them to add a little more to try and compete with the other carriers top phones? I mean doesnt sound like something verizon would do but I could see them doing this after all the other carriers unveiled their flag ship upcoming phones at ces.

They may not be "official", but many of the specs have already been confirmed by multiple reliable sources.

Those specs include 1gb of ram.
