*DROID DNA reaction, discussion, and first impression thread*

Hmmmm... now I'm thinking I might want to get a new phone.
Thanks a lot NA, before this I was perfectly happy with my Razr. :)

I have the Dinc and was toying with the MAXX or S3. I want a new phone, but neither truly sang to me and seeing the S3 screen was a tad disappointing considering the hype behind the Amoled screen. ust like local dimming LCD screen at home, its great but most people are not going to see the difference. Is a true black that important? Not to me on a phone. Home theater...different story.

If Verizon offers some kind of deal (like waiving startup fee or something) Ill pick it up black Friday. Trust me I am not delusional to think it will happen or any price breaks on the hardware itself. Otherwise I am going to wait until my next billing period to pick it up.

Seeing the everyday users report back about the battery use and what they were using frames the battery life and removes some of the ugga booga. It seems better than my current battery and has a ton more options.

I ust hope that it has the same support I see in the S3 forum. I imagine quite a lot does transfer from one platform to the other due to the driod software.

Just went and pre ordered the DNA. Got a case that I can look at and pretend theres a phone inside of. Cant wait!!! My mom actually ended up picking up a galaxy s 3 for 150 with 100 dollar rebate. Couldnt say no to that.

Thank you. I know checking the FedEx status daily (ok several times a day) does not get it here any faster. But I always find it interesting to track a package as it travels across the country. My phone shipment has been scanned six times already yet still shows the location as Memphis. I can't help but wonder if they would stop scanning and start driving if I could have my phone by Tuesday....:D

Maybe when the phone gets close enough you could arrange to intercept the package and shave off some time? :D:D I know, pretty silly, but that's what I think of doing.

Screen is nuts. Still very concerned about storage, but won't be able to load all my Android apps until I get home. Another thing I have noticed is the reception is awesome. Phone feels great in hand and looks sharp. The speakers along the side are a nice touch. If I decide to keep it, I will be ripping off the USB cover as it is pointless. Other than that I will try and answer any questions. I will be traveling today so it will be tough to grade battery life and usability fully today.

My understanding is the "grill" along the side is not for speakers, but merely for looks. One person said they were cooling vents, but I haven't heard any confirmation on that.

Looking for some first day reaction and real-world tests :)

I'm going to the store in a few hours and I'll be surprised if I don't come home with it. Unfortunately I do actually have to get on with the rest of my life today, but I'll play with it as much as possible and post impressions.

I was hoping they were speakers. My phone is running a little hot, but I am using it a lot. Once again, the screen is nuts.

Personally, I'm interested in how hot the beast gets. I've had batteries that did not like the heat and with an embedded battery this might be an issue.

Haven't noticed any significant heat build up (which I did occasionally on my rezound)

I have been putting it through the ringer the past 2 weeks so I'm pretty confident this won't be an issue for me

It is warm in my hand, but not hot. In fairness I have yet to put it down. I do not see how I cannot keep this thing until there are more choices of 1080p phones. I did not think it would make that big a difference but it absolutely does.

Well, I got it! This is the best looking phone I have ever owned, and is the screen amazing! Unfortunately I don't have time to play with it today. I also picked up the wireless charger, works great!

So one piece of advice, the demo phone in the store was not able to connect to 4G, was frustrating because I wanted to compare signal strength. But it is a demo phone only problem, as mine connected to 4G just fine after I activated it. And saw signal reception the same as the RAZR MAXX HD.

Beats only works through the headphones...I thought it worked through both?

The phone is very fast and does not run very hot. The demo model in the store also sucked, not seeing one bit of that though on the one that I purchased. Initially my Sim card would not work in the store and they replaced it with another one and it loaded up just fine, no issues so far today. Heading out tonight with some friends, hoping to put this through some tests, will report back tomorrow.

I have had excellent reception thus far. I actually think it is slightly better than the Maxx. I've had trouble with reception in the S3 and this is significantly better.

Yeah my house is close to an LTE tower, so no worries about signal here. It is about 3db better than my wife's RAZR M though. THe big question will be at my office. The 4G signal barely penetrates the building, and even though my cube is next to a window, only if I put my phone (GNex) on top of a shelf do I get 4G. If I get it on the desk, this phone will be perfect IMO.

I am in a similar situation and this phone worked well in my building. My S3 drops the signal all the time. The iPhone 5 and Maxx work decent, but not great. Today I was able to use the DNA without issue. I am on the 25th floor of a building in Center City Philadelphia. AT&T LTE actually works well there, but I have held off switching because Verizon works better around where I live. The only thing I do not know is if my signal was better due to a light work day. Although, my iPhone seemed to be working the same as mentioned above.

Really enjoying the phone, but the speakers do not seem very loud. My original Incredible seems way stronger on the volume coming out of it's speakers. Am I missing anything? Is there a way to increase the volume? Not sure this will wake me up! :)
