Root Droid Eris has an almost fully functional Gingerbread rom

It means that if the Eris has a nearly functioning GB that we won't be far behind.

I mean, think about it - it's the Eris, the little bastard cousin of the DROID in name only....

yeah but they are 2 completely different devices. One is a beast and the other is a little wimp that doesn't even deserve its name. Something tells me that our devs are slackin.

You keep saying that and see how many of our devs appreciate the comment.

Me, I'll prefer to be happy and wait for our devs to get a fully functional ROM out the door.

lol...punk.kaos over at XDA is a very industrious developer: he had one of the first Froyo ROMs "out there" for any phone (albeit a very early version; its very much matured now...lost track of the number of versions he's released (39 actually :p)).

Anyway, he's going at Gingerbread with the same gusto...;) :D...is on version 6 at the moment.

Cheers!

you are right but the droid is supposed to be the easiest device for romming.

It is one of the easiest devices to root. Developing a ROM from AOSP from scratch without any sort of basis (see: drivers) is a lot harder than you think.

Yes, his work has always been superlative. His latest may be next on my list to throw onto my phone to play with this weekend.

By then though, he'll be on ver 9 lol

Kaos never ran that great on the girlfriend's Eris, Tazz works a whole lot better for her specific phone. I may try his Gingerbread, but she hates me screwing with her phone.

As for the correlation between the Eris and the Droid, there is none, so releases for that phone mean absolutely nothing for the Droid.

Jeffv2 is putting out the latest version of his GB ROM tonight - within a few minutes if all goes well.
