Droid Game Pad - Game Gripper

Just got mine in today, been wrecking some megamanX. i absolutely love it, I know for a fact well before the game-gripper came into existence I said many times if I could just slide open my droid into a SNES pad I would be a happy camper, he beat me to making it(because I have ZERO skills in that dept) and good on him. I will be showing it off to 3 droid owners later today, and I know at least one will buy it.

<3<3<3 Great product.

I have received my Game Gripper and am glad to say that it works wonders! I can't speak as highly for SNESoid, which has some button mapping problems but I think a recent update took care of the issue. Good work GG Inventor. Shipping was prompt and product works just as advertised. Since I don't use my physical keyboard for anything else, I hope to have many hours of gaming ahead of me until the keys blow out.

I have had zero issues with SNESoid lite button mapping on my fones... There's more to this post, but I've drunken enough as it is.

Just a quick question for you guys, about how long did it take for you to get yours after ordering? I just got done ordering mine and want to know when i should be expecting it. I live in Sacramento, CA so its not all that far, hell in a couple hours i could drive over to the location that these are made.

I live in Wichita, KS. I ordered mine on a Friday afternoon and received it in the mail on Wednesday when I got home from work.

Ordered mine late on Saturday night (so I'm sure they didn't get the order until Monday) and got it here in Michigan today. I was expecting it to take way longer considering it had to go most of the way across the country.

And WOW, I can't believe it took me so long to order one! This thing is amazing! Fits nice and snug, and while the buttons don't feel quite the same as an oldschool NES, they're a heck of a lot better than using the keypad by itself!

So assuming that the distance is 3 times at least as far, I should have mine by tomorrow lol. At least hopefully. I have a buddy I hang out with on fridays that also has a droid and it would be great to be able to show off my shiny new droid game gripper! Either way, ill definitely be poosting a semi-review in this thread, as have many others. I can't wait!

I got my today, and I am pretty disappointed...maybe I am just being overly critical...

I posted the pics of the one I got in another thread http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/71500-got-my-game-gripper-today.html

I am reposted here to get some more views, and hopefully more responses. Is the common as-received product, or did I get a "bad" quality one?

Your responses are appreciated.

Yours looks a little worse than mine, but not so different that I'd say they were of totally different quality. The back of the keys is the only worrying part about yours

I just bought this thing and it is truly sweet; it allows me to play a lot of games that are basically unplayable on the Droid. However I have the same complaint most of you did: it slips off too easily.

Other things that should be improved:

1. the buttons and D-pad should be hard rubber rather than plastic; it damages your keyboard too easily.
2. the buttons and D-pad holes should be decreased, or at least their fixtures increased, as the D-pad has too much wiggle room, making it less accurate and more likely to make the gripper slip off. Also the side grips should actually fit the Droid, and not be universal. He already has multiple versions of it on the site, why not make it fit the Droid?

This thing is truly great, but needs some design improvements to make it perfect! Hopefully he'll make a better one with the Droid 2, as it has a staggered keyboard, meaning he can put the button groups closer together.

I have found no damage to my keyboard after extended use with mine, also mine never slips off. Maybe I don't press as hard or maybe you have the flat keyboard but I think the bubbly keys are probably the reason for both of my successes. It fits nice and snug with very little to no slide. Oh and my d-pad has no wiggle. Maybe you just got a below average gripper. Maybe its just bad luck.
