Droid Includes FM Receiver and Transmitter

Just a heads up, Tazmanian Droid and I have enabled the FM chip within the Droid (it's a one line change in the kernel) and he's working on getting an FM test app that TI published to compile and run on the Droid. The test app is a command line binary (meaning you need a terminal emulator), but once that is running, others can make a GUI apk to do the same.

ohhh yesssss

We still haven't seen it - although it was just posted (today, I think) that a new kernel was released by a dev that allowed the use of the FM in the Nexus 1, so I am hoping (*fingers crossed!*) that it trickles down to the DROID devs soon, as well.

You and me both! I miss my FM radio on my phone. As much as I complain about my local radio stations and have plenty of my own music, not to mention the plethora of internet radio apps, I really do miss being able to listen from my phone.

Forget about music radio (there are plenty of radio software apps out there) or the transmit to radio in car for music (horrible sound quality vice just aux out).

The ONLY reason i want the FM capability of the phone is that my local gym (and most gym across the country), use FM frequencies to transmit sound for the TVs they have cable on thats is in front of the treadmills and elliptical and bikes, etc...
Its would be nice to be able to watch the TV show and hear the sound all from ONE device, my phone, vice a dedicated FM receiver.
