Hey haruky,
Ok so Im not really sure what to say, Im usually around people more my own age that go through this sort of depression, so Im not sure if any of this will help, or make sense or anything, especially since im 14 years younger (I think thats what it was, and I mean no offense on the age thing). No matter what you might think or what people might say or do, there is ALWAYS someone there to help you through things. Weather that be a friend, a family member, a pet, an anonymous internet stranger, a greater force bigger than all of us. Although I am very spiritual(I hate organized religion, go figure), Im not here to "spread the word". Im simply stating that even in the toughest of time, there is someone there to help you out, they just might not be apparent yet.
Now, ive been through a lot of stuff in my life (constant parents fighting, divorce, weight gain, bullying, peer pressure, and suicide attempts from my friends and parents) so I understand where you are coming from, but the one thing that I ALWAYS keep in my mind is "it can only get better", "after this part of my life is through, than life will be perfect", and "although this really sucks, things could be FAR worse". Now thats all easier said than done, obviously, but its those type of thoughts that helped me realize who I really am today. Yeah, things suck right now, my job is a mess, my relationship feels like its teetering on the edge, and im living with my grandparents when Im 21. But then I turn that around and look at it...At least I have a job, that pays decently, my girlfriend and I have had a LOT of great times and things seem to be getting better, I have a great home to come to each night and get a good nights sleep. This is one way I battled my depression and weight gain. And lemme tell you something, it works.
With your kids, I understand the frustration, eventhough I am kid less. But at the same time can you really blame yourself for that. You say that you raised your kids right. Taught them good values. Well I defiantly believe you. From the maturity (Again coming froma 21 year old, that probably doesnt mean much) and advice and compassion that you have shown on this forum, I have little doubt that the reason your kids are acting this way is because of you. Keep that word in your mind too, "kids". They are kids, and as such are constantly growing and learning (Arn't we all too?). I know when I was a younger age up until a few years ago, I was nothing but horrible to my father (The one who raised me). I didnt talk to him, I called him horrible things, and pretty much disrespected him a lot. Do I regret that? Yes and no. I obviously stand by somethings, but for a lot of it, I do. The fact of the matter is, I love my father and what he has done for me,even if I don't show it.
I think on a personal level, I have turned into a very upstanding, caring, hardworking guy. Did my father contribute to that? Most defiantly. Was I a jackass at some points in my life? SURE!!! But who isn't at some points? Essentially what im saying is that its an age and an identity conflict with your kids, or at least thats how I see it. Your kids are still kids and even though you want them to keep that childish innocence, at some point they grow up a little and become bratty, thats the way it is for most kids. And that is not one bit reflected on you OR your way or raising them...thats just the way humans are wild. Now if these things progress into their late twenties or thirties, there might be some other issues there, but for the most part, I think its simply a coming of age thing.
So pretty much the TL;DR was:
-There is always someone there for you, dont give up
-Rough times suck, they get better
-Kids are kids, they will be jerks at times, they will be little angels at other times, but in the end they turn out great.
Because its Disney or what? Ha ha Im a disney nerd, and Im a guy, im not afraid to admit it!!!
