Hi all! I've been lurking a bit on this thread.... well.....okay, a lot! Figured I'd just come out and finally say hi!

Noooooooooo! Hope they have their facts wrong and we'll get GB yet! Maybe I should just bite the bullet and root my precious!

Welcome! We all hope they are wrong BUT if you do root let me tell you it's easy and so much fun you'll wonder why you waited.

Hey, don't go picking on my/our phones. I am tempted to buy another original incredible just in case anything happens to my "third lung".

I've been too busy to drop in regularly the past couple of days, but I still have a "read unread" button which means nobody is safe from my quoted reply wrath!

In all seriousness though, I have no idea what I said wrong. I was (in good nature, I hope) picking on blkbeltkid17 for showing up in no less than a half dozen threads calling out Verizon and being less than happy with his Inc2's. Wasn't picking on the Incredible itself, I love the silly shiny black lil thing and I'd have an army of backup Incredibles here myself if I could. :)

You didn't say anything wrong. I too was kidding around.

Yes it is the most incredible one.

I am back to SkyRaider. I flashed CM7 today too.... didn't last 30 minutes on my phone. Didn't like it at all. I'm a sense brat. The only thing I really really miss from Kingdom is HTC Hub.

You and me both I love that I want root back

But I'm so scared I'll kill it! Actually, I'm worried right now that something's wrong with it and by rooting it, I won't be able to file a warranty claim. However, maybe rooting would be the solution to my problems. I have been contemplating it for awhile. So, what does rooting actually do besides letting you customize your phone and give you Gingersense?

Would rooting help resolve my storage issue? I've read the numerous threads about it and have cleared caches and data. I have more than enough memory everywhere except maybe in my SD card. I haven't even been able to update my Angry Birds Rio for months. I *could* delete all the pictures of my cute kids, but what good is a phone where you can't show off your photos? I've been getting the "force close" popup for my browser, Market and almost everything else I've tried to do today. Clearing data has stopped that for now, but now my phone is possessed! It keeps randomly scrolling from screen to screen.

Alrighty. We can ignore my explanation then and I'll go back to poking fun at BlkBelt for his ranting and raving. :) Poor guy has had to suffer through having oh, what, like 5 of the snazziest HTC phones ever? Geeeeeeeeez.

Bs man snazziest my A** they are the worse hardware ever I would rather have a htc hero or the og inc over this pos

That is a part ... But try going through a new phone litlery every week for 5 weeks since you get a phone... You but these things expecting to work and when they all break our don't work and it ain't your it really blows

I'm not going to say a thing about phones not working, because there isn't enough wood in this entire house to knock on... I've been buying my phones from shady back alley dealers (aka eBay) since my Palm Pre committed suicide and I don't have the option to just switch them out every week. Thankfully I haven't had to either.

Morning all!

Hi Triska! Welcome to the madness:D

The process for rooting the original Incredible is actually pretty safe and surprisingly easy. BabyBlues can vouch for that. The memory problem is (unfortunately) not something that will go away (easily) with rooting because HTC has (in their infinite wisdom:rolleyes:) limited the partition where application data is stored to a paltry 150Mb. The bad thing about this is that the size is a hardware limitation, so it is not something that can be fixed by making the partition bigger. There are apps for rooted devices that can help by moving some of the data to the sdcard and creating links in the data storage partition (Not Enough Space is one I have used with some success).
The random scrolling from screen to screen is usually due to a dirty optical track pad. Try cleaning that.

Thanks! How do you clean the optical track pad? I blew air on it and cleaned it with a damp cloth, but it's still scrolling like mad.

If I get a bigger SD card, will that help a bit? I know that my SD card has very little memory left. I think it has to do with the massive amount of pictures that I keep on it and the only apps I have on it are my two Angry Birds. If I move to a larger card, how do I keep my AB data? I think I can move it to my phone storage, but I don't think I can do that since I don't have enough space to install any new apps.

I really shouldn't even be hanging out in the Android forums today. I spend way too much time here. DH's going to kill me if I'm not ready to leave for camping when he gets home in 3 hours.

This is when I miss my Dare. We camp at the coast where there is no 3G service. I can't do anything except text. No data except in rare occassions when the ocean breeze is blowing the right way. At least I could get on the internet and FB with my old Dare. I could reactivate it for the weekend, but I think the laggy touchscreen would drive me nuts! Dh was using it when he was waiting for a replacement Droid and he was like "How'd you ever live with this POS?" I had to remind him that his Voyager was even more of a crappy phone and at the time, my Dare was the best one out there!

so, are folks thinking of upgrading from their Dinc, yet? Too early? I'm on the DX and thinking upgrade. :D

Not too early, just nothing out there catching my eye. I want something with LTE, better battery life and maybe dual-core. Though those last two may be mutually exclusive. :(

Nope, not yet. I can honestly say I'm still quite happy with my little beast, especially since rooting and learning how to flash roms. I will NOT go to anything motorola and the Inc2 and TB just don't do much for me. Especially since I can't root either yet.

Better battery life is so far my own real want in a new phone. And I'd like the optical joystick because it's just a P.I.T.A. to move things screen to screen without it but I doubt that I'll have that again either.
