Root root root for the home team :) I never rooted my Dinc. Never felt the need. Perhaps I'm just over that sorta thing. Way way back in the day I was always tweaking my pc.. to the point of messing it up a time or two even. It was fun.. and it was more.. ME. So I get it. I just don't feel the need any longer. Same thing with the phone. I buy what I like and plan on an upgrade in 20 months.

I would root it now just to try it lol what do you have to lose?

So my wife is happily using her new Rezound and her (formerly my) DInc has returned to me somewhat the worse for wear. (My favorite one was just a month or so ago when she (unbeknownst to me) had removed the screen protector "because it needed to be replaced" ("Well, honey, why did you not then 'replace' it??" But i digress...)

So, screen protector-less, she dropped it face down on a gravel driveway... Then proceeded to step backwards looking for it... Yup. "Oh, my, there it is under my foot!"

...Mind you, this is after forgetting she had put it on the roof of her car, and driving off... Remarkably, it was found by a jogger, who took it to Verizon, and it got returned to us... That was about a year ago...

So this little DInc has had a hard life, but it's still ticking, screen gouges and all.

It would still work as a wi-fi enabled music/game player, but I have my Rezound for that! ;-) And after all it's been through, I don't think I want to let my kids (Ages 6 and 3.5) use it for Angry Birds... That'd be a rough way to go.

So I am thinking of rooting it to CM7 just for kicks... Or I might just give it a place of honor on the bookcase, too... Especially since it's not really "off the clock" until I get that insurance going on my wife's new phone...
